Nahar’s spindleage expansion:
Focus on value-added products
Nahar Spinning Mills Ltd.’s ex-
pansion plan of 90,000 spindles is
progressing as per schedule. The
company has already installed
56,640 spindles and 360 rotors till
July 30, 2011. After expansion,
which is due for completion by De-
cember end, the overall capacity
will increase to 4.36 lakh spindles
and 1,080 rotors. The company has
positioned itself as one of the lead-
ing integrated textile players to reap
the benefts of economies of scale
and become globally competitive in
terms of cost and quality.
In 2010-11, the company put up a
splendid performance achieving an
operating income of Rs. 1,391.52
crores (net), showing an increase
of 25.31 per cent over the previ-
ous year. Likewise, exports at Rs.
975.09 crores are also up by 33.36
per cent over the previous year. The
company substantially improved its
performance and earned a net proft
of Rs. 119.72 crores, representing an
increase of 123.82 per cent.
The yarn segment performed ex-
ceedingly well. The recovery in the
US, European and Asian economies,
coupled with higher export realiza-
tion, enabled the segment to achieve
a revenue of Rs. 1,275.28 crores,
showing an increase of 29.03 per
cent over the previous year. The seg-
ment could have further improved
its performance had the Government
not imposed a cap on export of cot-
ton yarn at 720 million kg. on No-
vember 30, 2010, for the fnancial
year ended March 31, 2011.
Nahar’s R&D efforts are focused
not only on productivity and quality
improvement with waste reduction
but also on developing value-added
products like multi slub yarn, multi
count with multi slub yarn and multi
twist yarn, 100 per cent organic cot-
ton & organic cotton blends, mé-
lange yarn in different shades and
blends for international and domes-
tic markets.
The company has the latest online
and offine testing and monitoring
equipments from world renowned
manufacturers to maintain product
consistency both on raw material as
well as fnished products.
The company is in the process of
replacing the existing machines with
latest and advanced ones. It has al-
ready installed compact spinning
ring frames for better quality yarns.
Also “Loptex” and “C.V.T. - 3” ma-
chines installed in blow room for
removal of foreign contaminations
and installation of Uster Quantum,
the latest series yarn clearer to fur-
ther improve yarn quality.
Autoconer machines are under
gradual replacement with latest
advanced technology machines to
improve quality of fnal yarn and
equipped with latest generation of
yarn clearer system.
Nahar has installed Uster Tester-5,
Uster Quantum Classimat & Uster
Quantum Clearer-2 from Uster
Technologies, Switzerland. It has
also installed Neps & Trash indica-
tor from Mesdan, Italy. In order to
improve the working environment,
the company has installed the lat-
est humidifcation plant from Luwa
