chine. The advantage is that heavy
weights, as such of filament warps
that sometimes weigh several tons,
don’t need to move while precise
manipulations like yarn separation
are carried out.
OPAL multilayer leas-
ing machine
OPAL applies a 1:1 lease
to a warp sheet to ensure a
perfect warp pattern. It can
do this with one or several warp
sheets. Available models are for
230 cm, 280 cm and 360 cm maxi-
mum working width. At ITMA,
OPAL was demonstrated with a
multi-colour warp, including colour
detection.
Recent system optimizations
allow the handling of especially
fine yarns down to 10 den, transpar-
ent yarns, and fully drawn yarns
(FDY), which are of particular
interest to filament weavers. Shirt-
ing weavers working with multi-
coloured beam dyed warps benefit
from OPAL’s colour detection fea-
ture to recognize up to 12 colours in
a warp. In all applications faultless
sequencing of the separated warp
threads is guaranteed by the sys-
tem’s yarn separation unit.
Warp-tying machine MAGMA
T12 ties medium to coarse yarn
types and is ideal for technical fab-
rics which are rapidly growing in
importance. MAGMA ties mono-
filaments, coarse multifilaments, PP
ribbons, bast fibres, coarse staple
fibres, and many other fibre types.
The machine is equipped with
an optical system for double-end
detection and has a patented yarn
separation system with no need of
specific separation needles.
To make operation even more
convenient and to provide more
information about the progress of
the tying process, the MAGMA
T12 is now equipped with a new
touch-screen panel which is used
to display information and enter
parameters.
The proven TOPMATIC warp-ty-
ing machine was also demonstrated
at the Stäubli booth. The model
TOPMATIC 201 PC with inte-
grated double-end-detection, even
in warps without lease, will show
its strengths in tying a cotton warp
without 1:1 lease.
ALPHA 400 series
The ALPHA 400 series of carpet-
weaving machines has proved its
success with many customers who
use it to efficiently produce area
rugs and wall-to-wall carpeting for
the residential, contract and trans-
portation sectors. Available in five
configurations and featuring state-
of-the-art technology, the ALPHA
400 produces carpets of excellent
qualities and impressive patterns at
outstanding production rates.
At ITMA Asia Schönherr exhib-
ited top-quality area rugs with very
high reed densities produced on an
ALPHA 400 machine.
Some carpet patterns have been
produced by using the new Multi
Weft Selector, adding even more
flexibility to the ALPHA 400. It al-
lows the insertion of up to six plus
six different weft yarns in the same
fabric, offering many new pos-
sibilities for designers and carpet
weavers to create and produce new
carpet qualities. The Multi Weft
Selector features a modular design
that allows scaleable configuration.
Any ALPHA 400 machine can be
upgraded by adding this new op-
tion.
The Stäubli Group’s DEIMO
products include servo motors,
drives, electronic control solutions,
input/output devices, and related
programming tools. Among others
DEIMO supplies highly advanced
technology for electronic control-
lers for circular knitting machinery
for hosiery as well as control units
for weaving machine devices such
as main direct-drive motors, let-off
and take-up motions, and for Jac-
quard machines.
