The ‘Make in India’ campaign was launched by the Government of India on September 25, 2014 with the primary objective of giving impetus to entrepreneurship in India and encouraging the sale of products which were manufactured using Indian machinery and techniques by Indian companies. In this respect, the success of any such campaign relies heavily on the machinery and techniques used by manufacturers. Once the campaign was flagged off, some manufacturers continued using foreign technology whereas others who believed in the authenticity and quality of products manufactured in India, switched to Indian manufacturers and the technology they offered.

One such company which is completely indigenous is Zoom Texturisers (P) Ltd., a 37-year-old venture that has established its credit as a pioneer in the field of twisting falls. Zoom Group was founded in 1982 by Paresh Thumar and his family as a company to make products for the weaving sector. The initial production started with 12 two-lumber weaving looms. Over the years, the company has successfully delivered premium quality products at astonishingly reasonable prices. Within a few years of operation, owing to the massive popularity and demand of its line of products, Zoom Texturisers felt the need to expand its horizons and beef up the production capacities.

One of the very first ventures was in the field of texturizing that later included products and technologies in the segments of twisting and finishing. Apart from the aforesaid, the company has also been successful in penetrating and functioning efficiently in the garment sector that primarily includes women wear since the year 2018. The company specialises in textile threads, technical threads and industrial sewing threads while covering a few types of technical fabric. They also offer single and multiple twists in both natural as well as synthetic materials along with a wide denier range which extends from 110 Dtex to 15,000 Dtex. This wide portfolio of products is used for chafer fabric, tyre cord fabric, nets, ropes, conveyor belts, transmission belts and tents, etc.

While delivering such a range of products, the company ensures that they put their best foot forward and manufacture products that are of maximum utilisation to the consumer. Currently, the company has four production units in Surat that function to the fullest of their potential. Elaborating about the technical infrastructure of the company, Paresh Thumar, Technical Director, Zoom Texturisers, says: “We strictly believe in using machinery manufactured in India as it helps in promoting and pushing forth the noble Make in India campaign. Most of the machines in use are from Globe, a company which embodies the intersection of technology, innovative excellence and integrity.”

Zoom Texturisers shares the same motto of delivering nothing but the best to its customers and this philosophy has helped them in sustaining their partnership with the aforementioned company for an immensely long period of time. “Another factor that has stood us in good stead is our focus on research and development, which is an ongoing process that helps us to come up innovative products and solutions,” Thumar says. Zoom Texturisers has on its team 200 employees, all highly trained, “We are one big family and each person is a professional in his or her domain,” is how Thumar puts it. Meanwhile, through these 37 years, the company has been able to cover backward integration as well as forward integration. The former has become crucial for the textile industry owing to the dearth of raw materials and an increase in costs.

In that sense, Zoom Texturisers has been able to pre-empt the shortcomings of future market scenarios and their strategy of both forward and backward integration has helped a great deal, especially during phases of downturns in the sector. Also, the company’s base in Surat has been of strategic importance. “Surat has always been very lucrative for us and it will continue to be that way. We have become a known brand and now there are other players copying our designs and methods,” Thumar says. Since 1982, Zoom Texturisers has crossed many significant milestones, including their expansion into diverse sectors like those of garments and twisting and major expansion drives that have helped extend their footprint outside Surat.
