Water is the most vital resource of the 21st century with only three per cent of the total available water in the world being fresh. While secure water supply is regarded most important, safe drinking water supply is impossible without the use of the latest technology.

Our rivers, lakes and other water reserves are increasingly at risk due to various environmental factors such as the release of municipal waste and effluents from industries. Today, technological progress offers a lot of possibilities based on environmental protection. The ecological focus is on water protection and the multiple use of wastewater.

Xyro Equipment and Services is a sister concern of Aqua Fog Max Humidifications, a leading player in industrial and commercial energy-efficient humidification systems. The company manufactures and exports an exclusive array of water treatment systems and plants. With strong industrial expertise and in-depth knowledge of water pollution and water treatment, Xyro Equipment has added a new product to its portfolio, the Ozone Generator, a German technology based on the most advanced discharge tube design and precise machining techniques to ensure outstanding performance and reliability.

The Ozone Generator can tackle problems related to zero discharge of effluents from the textile fabric industry, waste water, yarn bleaching, municipal effluents, paper industry, and the food and beverages industry.

The product uses ozone (03) gas which breaks down the colour mould very quickly, after the aerobic and anaerobic process, as they come in contact with it. The powerful oxidation potential of ozone has made colour removal one of the classic ozone applications for drinking water along with taste and odour removal, which is also organic based. Today ozone is used extensively to remove colour from effluents from dye manufacturers, textile mills, pharmaceutical and other industrial units. It is also used extensively as a bleach in many processes such pulp and paper manufacturing and even in textiles (stone washed denim).

The generator converts oxygen into ozone by using ultraviolet radiation or by an electric discharge field. It is a very reactive gas that can oxidise bacteria, moulds, organic material and other pollutants found in water. Use of ozone to treat wastewater helps remove bacteria and oxidise substances such as iron and sulphur, so that they can be filtered out of the solution. It is odourless and leaves no residue. It’s a sledge-free process and there is no biological carryover or growth on the membrane.

Xyro Equipment and Services has successfully installed India’s first biggest ozone generator for ZLD at the Mangalam CETP, Tirupur, for colour removal process at 1-1.5 paise per litre. Ozone is well suitabled for colour removal in aerobic or anaerobic pre-treated textile effluent. It removes colour upto 95%, COD up to 75%, BOD up to 85%, etc.

Since ozone is an eco-friendly gas it never leaves behind any harmful reject. Here 100 per cent elimination of use of chlorine gas, hypo, ferrous, lime resin, etc., for colour removal process is possible. When ozone is used there is no reject.

“The payback period for the investment is less than a year. Also, this new product is completely a green technology approved by the Pollution Control Board”, says Mr. Easwaramurthy, Managing Director, Xyro Equipment and Services.

Xyro Equipment and Services has partnered with a Chinese manufacturer for its new product with its equity holding of 35 per cent. The eco-friendly product manufactured in China and marketed in India by the company is already in use at the Mangalam plant. Fully realising the significance of the ozone generator, the management is confident that most of the manufacturers in Tirupur would switch over to this product for achieving zero discharge from factories.

The company also plans to market its generator all over India and to launch its ozone bleaching machine at TexFair this December.
