Winsome Textiles is busy expanding the overall capacity, and the new spinning unit of the company with a capacity of 41,088 spindles started trial production on April 12 last. Construction work on the new circular knitting unit of the company at the existing unit at Baddi in Himachal Pradesh is on, and is expected to be completed in 2013-2014. Expansion/modernization of the existing dyeing house is almost over.

By considering the expansion-cum-diversification, Winsome will have the benefit of economies of scale with efficient quality control and to have more value-added products in its supply chain. This positive initiative will contribute to operational efficiency, reduction in cost and thereby augment the overall growth of the company in terms of customer satisfaction and wealth maximization.

In 2012-13, Winsome achieved sales turnover of Rs. 35,179.98 lakhs as against Rs. 31,624.47 lakhs in the previous year and a net profit (after tax) of Rs. 1,511.44 lakhs against net loss of Rs. 922.06 lakhs.

Winsome’s priority categories in the domestic market, i.e., melange & dyed yarn, continue to witness healthy growth. The company feels that increased disposable income, especially among the middle class, will fuel consumption of these products. Winsome is tapping its extensive network to reach out to an increasing number of consumers. The growing market and opportunities to leverage its brand as well as distribution network would improve the company prospects both in the domestic and overseas markets.

Further, construction of the company’s upcoming hydro power project at Dharamshala in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh is nearing completion and is expected to be commissioned in 2013-2014.

IS/ISO & (TQM)

Winsome has successfully achieved the new certification of IS 18001:2007 for Occupational, Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS). It has become the first textile unit in Himachal Pradesh to be granted the said certification. Winsome also continues to be holder of IS/ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System Certificate and IS/ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System (EMS) Certificate, issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards.

Furthermore, Total Quality Management (TQM) projects are undertaken on Dr. Juran’s TQM philosophy. Winsome is the winner of the Trident Quality Pioneer Trophy for the North West Qualtech Awards 2010 held at Mohali and won the Second Prize (runner-up) of the Trident Quality Pioneer Trophy for the North West Qualtech Awards 2012 held at Chandigarh.

The company has further been presented with the Gold Trophy by the Cotton Export Promotion Council of India for the highest exports of processed yarns during 2011-12. The company is well positioned in the emerging business scenario with a clear objective to enhance its share both in the domestic and international markets. It will be greatly benefited through its expansion projects in Baddi.
