The awards were based on an analysis of patent volume, citation volume, patent success, and globalization level using patent data from Derwent World Patents Index™ (DWPI) and Derwent Patent Citations Index™ (DPCI). Analysis was strictly conducted using proprietary Clarivate Analytics data and tools, with the evaluation strictly driven by metrics for both patent volume (patents published) and patent quality (grant success rate, the extent of globalization, and citations). The awards were given in three broad categories – Government Research Organisations, Academic Institutions, and Corporations – for each country in the region.
