Voith renews trust in Guarneri Technology

The German multinational corporation Voith GmbH is upbeat on the business prospects in India and the Asia-Pacific region across various verticals. The €4.25-billion (in revenue) corporation is eyeing the unfolding potential to supply to the Indian Railways, the ongoing and upcoming metro rail projects and the proposed fast trains. Apart from its focus on the power sector, including hydel projects, commercial vehicles and oil and gas, it sees potential in the paper and technical textile sectors where packaging and speciality textiles are expected to gather pace.

The German conglomerate recently signed an agreement with Guarneri Technology S.r.l.; Busto Arsizio; Italy, to continue its impregnable cooperation with the latter for using the original Voith Nipco Technology for textile and technical-textile calendering.

For more than three decades, Guarneri Technology, earlier known as ramischGuarneri, has been the world’s leading manufacturer for textile calender technology. In direct technical co-operation with NIPCO license partner VPW (Voith Paper Walztechnik AG) in Zurich, Guarneri developed pressure controlled calenders individually adjusted to customers’ demands.

Since long Guarneri has been a leader in both conventional and controlled deflection calenders for textile and technical textile fabric processing and finishing applications. It is now a widely acclaimed brand with hundreds of calendars being used globally for several applications in the textile industry. It offers various models of controlled deflection calenders like NIPCO I, NIPCO L, NIPCO FLEX and the new NIPCO HT for technical textiles.

In an exclusive interview to The Textile Magazine, Mr. Eugen Schnyder, Managing Director, Voith Paper Walztechnik AG, stated: “Resulting from that agreement, Voith will, together with the now renamed company Guarneri Technology s.r.l., continue to serve the worldwide textile customers with the Original Nipco system, and Voith will accompanying our partner with all its resources to fulfill the marked expectations with our leading original Nipco system.”

At the interview, Mr. Ettore Guarneri, Managing Director of Guarneri Technologies, said: “Guarneri Technology is the only calender manufacturer in the world to offer the NIPCO technology for textile finishing and technical textiles industry. The company recently received exclusivity rights from Voith for this technology. This means no one else in the world is allowed to market their calenders under the Nipco tagline. Our technology is so good that our competition is always trying to copy us, never the opposite.”

One of the main aspects of this technology is that the sides of the turning sleeve which are not covered by material are protected against any damage, like overheating or marking by woven selvedge. This width setting is controlled by the so-called retracting forces which are well-known in the NIPCO technology – acting in 180° against the active pressure nip.

Voith, in collaboration with the Guarneri’s, has successfully installed hundreds of calenders worldwide for textile and technical textile applications. In India, these calenders are marketed and sold by A.T.E. Some of the key customers like Kusumgar and Arvind have been using this technology for many years, which is testimony for its unmatched performance.
