Opportunities are generally tough to come by, and in some cases, we are forced to create them for ourselves. While vision is required to acknowledge an opportunity, bravery is required to act on that opportunity as soon as possible. A successful entrepreneur embodies both of the aforementioned characteristics, and is always eager to capitalise on opportunities as they arise. Entrepreneurship as a concept has existed for centuries and a person who happens to be an entrepreneur or is striving to be an entrepreneur is expected to fully live up to the adage, “necessity may well be called the mother of invention but calamity is the test of integrity” with the ability to detect market requirements and deliver solutions that contribute to the advancement of society as a whole being the key quality of an entrepreneurial enterprise.

Vishal Fabrics Limited (VFL) was established in 1985 as a fabric processing unit and in 2016 it started denim manufacturing. VFL stands for a denim revolution that will restore equality to fashion and forever alter market trends. Vishal Fabrics Limited is a well-known company that specializes in denim dyeing, printing, and processing, as well as a wide range of other fabrics. VFL’s clear goal has been to deliver quality fabrics that effortlessly meet global standards for over three decades. The enterprise believes in innovation and technology and is confident that it will assist them in becoming one of India’s leading dyeing, printing, and processing units. A firm belief in bringing cutting-edge technology has aided in the establishment of a cutting-edge manufacturing facility.

Every year, the company’s unit produce over 80 million metres of processed fabrics. The company is devoted to the core value of ‘delivering more than expected’. VFL has emerged as a pioneer in the textile industry by producing wider width fabrics with values and innovation at the heart of the organisation. Despite VFL’s rich history of accomplishments, the company focuses solely on today in order to meet the needs of customers tomorrow. Following this philosophy, Vishal Fabrics Limited has made a large-scale foray into the denim industry. While elaborating on the aforementioned subject, Vinay Thadani, CFO/COO of Vishal Fabrics, happens to state the following: “The goal is to produce the highest quality denim in the world so that it reaches everyone and breaks down all barriers.”

Modern Infrastructure

Vishal Fabrics Limited has established the most advanced manufacturing facility by deploying cutting-edge machinery and smart manufacturing processes. It has the capacity to produce over 80 million metres of processed fabric per year and a 6 MW captive power plant has been installed to meet the increasing power demand. Major machines such as the continuous bleaching range unit, rotary screen-printing machine, continuous and loop agers, hydro extractors, sanforizing machine, Liza brushing machine, and suede machine aid in a variety of complex processes throughout the manufacturing chain. The cutting-edge denim unit is outfitted with 367 weaving looms, 11 warping units, eight dyeing DR machines, three singeing machines, two mercerising units, one stenter, four wet finishing machines, 14 inspection machines, a foam finish machine with a combination of dobby + cam (Tsudakoma) and 1 kiss roll finishing machine, allowing for the production of a diverse range of products such as shirting.

Admirable Qualities

A full-fledged firm thrives on innovation, perseverance in growth, and public goodwill. Resilience is a hidden component that keeps the company running even under the most adverse conditions. While the aforementioned statements can be simply defined as the ability to quickly recover from a difficult situation, they also reflect a company’s leadership’s competence.

Vishal Fabrics is an example of a successful enterprise that has embodied the aforementioned attributes, and is one that is forever updated about the dynamic requirements of the markets by periodically conducting extensive market analysis. Owing to this habit of being constantly updated, the company was able to identify the changes in the Indian markets sooner in comparison to its peers, and therefore, in order to cater to same, it reinvented/expanded its facilities to operate at a capacity that is multiple times at which the company used to initially operate at.

Thadani states the following while elaborating on the subject of resilience and growth of corporations: “Globalization is increasing market competition by the hour. To remain consistent in this market, a company must ensure that its products are the best fit for the customer. With the expansion of the textile industry, a slew of new businesses have sprung up, adding to the rivalry. A corporation must have a supporting force that provides dependable machinery in order to achieve its intended product. Vishal Fabrics’ founding vision was to innovate their way to a better and greener future, and their functionality, dependability, and popularity attest to the fact that Vishal Fabrics has stayed true to its goal, constantly reinventing itself to meet the needs of its customers.”

Vishal Fabrics has maintained its principles despite starting the company on such a small scale and growing to a position where it is recognised all over the world for its design, quality, and unique approach to the marketing of denims. The management philosophy, in Thadani’s words, is “finding yourself by losing yourself”. A company’s sole purpose is to grow as long as there is life in it. This allows it to persistently identify stakeholders and the gaps that need to be filled. The concerned mantra is fully implemented in the company’s operations, allowing both business and society to thrive side by side.

Social Responsibility

The foregoing business has proven to be socially beneficial. The company has implemented corporate social responsibility (CSR) as part of its business model and has aided in the transformation of the lives of artisans all over the country. Thadani has a word of advice for the younger generation: “It is very important to love what you do and to love the people you work for and with,” he states. The company is poised to serve as a role model for young minds considering a similar career trajectory, thanks to its quality, work environment, and approach to ‘artists (as they like to call them).
