Vietnam’s Sustainable Textile Brand Conquers International Market with Two Major Awards

Mrs. Do Thi Thuy has been personally honored with the “Golden Globe Award Sustainable Green Fashion Brand” in the agricultural sector by the International Alliance of Business Professionals (IABP). Additionally, under her leadership, Thien Phuoc Ramie Group Joint Stock Company was honored with the “Gold Medal International Product Brand” for its outstanding contributions in building and developing a sustainable green ramie value chain. This has provided raw materials for the development of the textile industry and has promoted the global trade of ramie yarn, fabric, and ramie-based products.

On August 19, 2024, at the headquarters of the American International University (Los Angeles, California, USA), the International Alliance of Business Professionals (IABP) — an organization that unites entrepreneurs globally to share knowledge and skills in business and technology — presented awards in three international categories: Global Inspiring Award, Golden Globe Award Sustainable Green Fashion Brand, and Gold Medal International Product Brand. Mrs. Do Thi Thuy was highly commended by the council and organizing committee for her numerous innovations and business solutions, as well as her efforts in fostering international cooperation and joint ventures with foreign partners (including Thailand, Japan, India, the U.S., and the EU). She is particularly recognized as the author of several scientific research projects on the AP1 green ramie variety — a crop that serves the natural textile industry and contributes to the global sustainability of the fashion industry. Under her leadership, Thien Phuoc Ramie Group has successfully exported “Made in Vietnam” green ramie yarns, fabrics, and related products to demanding international markets, thus boosting Import-export turnover between Vietnam and other countries and strengthening friendly cooperation between nations..

The recognition by the International Alliance of Business Professionals provides a great motivation for Mrs. Thuy and her team to continue “greening” the textile industry, further developing ramie cultivation areas and ramie yarn manufacturing plants that meet the increasingly stringent standards of both the domestic and global markets.

In the past, “green standards” in the textile industry primarily referred to the use of chemicals and dyes. Today, these standards encompass the entire supply chain, including raw material sourcing, product durability, and more. With outstanding qualities such as durability, moisture absorption, and natural antibacterial properties, green ramie yarns are known as the “Queen of Natural Yarns.” Tests show that 75% of bacteria in ramie yarn products are eliminated after 24 hours, and the secondary infection rate is reduced by over 98%, even after 50 washes. This makes green ramie yarns, fabrics, and various innovative products made by Thien Phuoc Ramie Group the ideal materials for the global sustainable textile industry.

As one of Vietnam’s key export industries, the domestic textile sector still faces limitations in the diversity of raw materials, especially those of natural origin, which reduces its competitiveness. Currently, domestic fabric production only meets 36% of demand, while imported fabrics account for 64%. More than 250 global fashion brands have already established environmental responsibility standards and codes of conduct. According to a global consumer survey conducted by McKinsey in April 2020, 65% of consumers have shifted from fast fashion to durable, basic fashion over the long term, and 67% are increasingly concerned about the environmental and social sustainability of fashion brands.

The significant pressure from consumers, particularly younger generations, has created an irreversible trend toward “greening” the global textile industry. The efforts of Mrs. Do Thi Thuy and the strategic direction of Thien Phuoc Ramie Group not only demonstrate visionary leadership but also reflect a commitment to consumers, the environment, and society, contributing to the sustainable development of the global textile industry.
