The advanced version of Rappid Scan will be the prime product on display
Vetal is a name that has become synonymous with a quality range of sorting and detection equipment. The company is all set to showcase its solutions at the forthcoming Texfair 2022 trade show. Sounding happy with the company’s performance in 2021-22, P T Muralidharan, General Manager-Marketing, said: “The last financial year, especially post the second pandemic wave , around June, things started to look up for us. We had good bookings. The supplies became smoother. The spinning industry started doing well by the second half of the year and it was reflected in our order book.”
“With many new projects being announced, almost every machinery manufacturer is looking forward to the next couple of years,” he added. The company had launched its ‘Rappid Scan’ during ITMA 2019 Barcelona and since then the product has been gaining popularity, not only in India, but also across several key markets globally. “We have carved a niche for ourselves with our range of contamination cleaning solutions. Over the last two years, we have done further refinements in Rappid Scan,” Muralidharan informed.
He also sounded enthusiastic about the impetus that policy initiatives such as the PLI and mega textile parks schemes are providing to the textile industry. Sharing details, he said: “While the PLI scheme may primarily be for the manmade fibres segment, two of our products – fire and metal detectors – cater to this segment. As you know the focus on safety has increased manifold in recent times. With the schemes expected to garner significant investments, we are looking forward to leveraging on the emerging business opportunities.”
Taking the Lead
Listing down the competitive edge that Vetal’s products have over others, Muralidharan pointed out: “We are competing both in the domestic and global markets for almost 35 years now. We are present in many cotton growing and fabric manufacturing countries, where we are competing with European, American, as well as fellow Indian companies. We have successfully built a good market share due to our quality products. We are considered among the leaders in our product category in India. We are a preferred choice of spinning mills. In recent times, as mentioned earlier, we are also a top choice among technical textile players too for a couple of our products. Over time, due to our thrust on research and development and quality we have emerged as a leading name.”
Speaking about the company’s global presence, he added: “Usually 20% our manufacturing is marked for exports. Our key markets include Turkey, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan and Vietnam along with countries where garments or cotton is produced.” Muralidharan is excited about the opportunities emerging in the Indian market. “A lot of new projects are being announced. I feel that if these market trends continue, every Indian manufacturer of textile equipment will have a good market for the next 2-3 years if it continues without any problems,” he observed.
Road Ahead
Going into details regarding the future plans of the company, he noted: “We are always striving to improve ourselves. We are constantly upgrading technology. We are always coming out with advanced versions of our products. We do this based on the feedback that we get from customers. This is an ongoing process for us and we will continue on this path in the future too.”
Finally, welcoming visitors to the company’s stall at Texfair 2022, Muralidharan said: “We will be displaying the latest version of Rappid Scan at the fair. You can visit us at Stall Nos. BB31 and BB32. Since such a fair is being held after a gap, we hope that there will be good footfalls and we get to interact with a wide cross-section of customers.”
