The SIMTA Group is a well-known entity in the textile industry with its quality range of products including spindle tapes, overhead travelling cleaners (OHTCs) and clearer rollers with cleaning machine. Cyber Textiles, which is part of the group, is a top name in home textiles. The company is all geared up to participate in the forthcoming Heimtextil 2023 event to be held in Frankfurt.
In an exclusive chat with S. Senthil Kumar, the company’s Managing Director, we got to know more from him about Cyber Textiles and the products it is going to display at the exhibition. “We have launched home textiles in the name of Cyber Textiles. We are presenting a new range of 100% bedding, meticulously crafted, from recycled and plant based material. This is fashion and design in a different way. We are not doing like big companies. Our concept is we want to make special products for the same application, but it will be handpicked. Particular design, particular fashion. Customized. These kind of things is our background,” he stated.
Nestled within the Palladam Hi-Tech Weaving Park, a testament to their commitment, lies Cyber Textiles’ manufacturing hub. Delving into the intricate details of the unit’s infrastructure, Senthil Kumar elaborated, “Our arsenal comprises 48 rapier looms, some of which boast jacquard capabilities. With all 3.8-meter looms, we’ve honed our craft for over 15 years. Initially catering to internal demands, our weaving unit has evolved to serve prominent industry players and now fosters our own line of home textile products.”
Heimtextil 2023 beckons
“The brand is SIMTA but manufacturer is Cyber Textiles. The specialty of our program is sustainability and supply chain. Minimum order quantity we keep as low as 200. I think it is industry revolutionary standard. No company is making such a kind of MOQ. We are doing that. If we supply 1000 sets they cannot consume all 1000 sets, another 100 or 50 will be idle for many years. We don’t want that to happen. We kept MOQ as minimum as 200. That is the kind of involvement of our team to develop home textiles,” he elaborated.
The company is all set and ready to participate in Heimtextil 2023. Going into details about the participation he mentioned. “We got very good response in last Heimtextil. This is the second time we are participating in the event. Our hall no is 10, stall no: B 33 A. So on behalf of SIMTA I invite all our customers to visit our booth and have an experience of all our products.”
When asked about the unique selling proposition of Cyber Textiles’ products, Senthil Kumar emphasized, “Unlike our counterparts, we don’t mass-produce designs. Our niche lies in tailor-made manufacturing—catering to the customer’s preferences. Sustainability fused with minimal order quantities defines our forte. We thrive on distinctive designs and bespoke applications, catering to even the smallest requisites. Understanding our strengths and weaknesses, we thrive by accentuating our strong suits.”
The company’s major markets are the US and Europe. “We are in those markets. We are making all these specialty fibers like cotton, modal and linen. All those minimum 10%-15% are recycled products,” he said.
Sustainability push
“Everybody is talking about sustainability and reprocessing material. In the entire world not even 1% of these products are being used as main products. The aim for the industry is 10%. We have a long way to achieve that 10%, but we are very specific to do a minimum 10% of sustainable material in our product. That is our commitment to the industry,” Senthil Kumar said. Close to 100 people are working in Cyber Textiles in – weaving, warping and stitching.
Future plans
According to Senthil Kumar the company’s capacity will be decided by the market. “The market response we are getting is very good. We are getting good orders and growing. There is no limit for our expansion. We are growing according to the market,” he pointed out.
Speaking about the market trends, Senthil Kumar highlighted that exports from India, particularly readymade garments and home textiles at the moment had touched USD 3 billion. “This is not even 1% of the global business. We need to increase this to 3%. That will make business from India around USD 120 billion. If all the textile chain people are targeting the figure, maybe within 5 years we will reach that. That is a very good model for India. Because China is doing about USD 300 billion. If we manage USD 100 billion, it is more than enough. Domestic requirement is about USD 90 billion. Exports are about 33 billion. We want to make exports USD 100 billion. That should be our future target. I am sure we can easily make that within the next 4-5 years,” he said.
The company intends to do Rs. 250 crore business in its home textiles division. “This is our immediate plan. We are sure, we will achieve our goal,” said Senthil Kumar concluded on a positive note.
