Trident Ltd. has announced commencement of production with effect from September 23 at its integrated bed-linen project of 500 looms capable of turning out 43.2 million metres of bed-linen per annum and the spinning plant with 1.90 lakh yarn spindles for captive consumption at Budni, Madhya Pradesh. The project, involving capital investment of Rs. 1,667 crores, will add potential revenue of Rs. 1,200 crores at optimum utilisation. The company expects to achieve 50-60 per cent utilisation by FY17.
Post this expansion, the total capacity of the company’s textile division is 688 looms of terry towel, 500 looms of bed-linen, 5.55 lakh yarn spindles and 5,504 rotors for cotton and blended yarn.
Mr. Rajinder Gupta, Chairman & Managing Director, said: “At Trident, we have always believed that textiles is in reality a technology-driven business. Over the decades, we have invested in cutting-edge technologies, convinced that the productivity and efficiency upsides would shrink pay back faster than any other initiative”.
Trident commissioned an open-end yarn-spinning project in July 2014 with a capacity of 10,000 TPA of open-end cotton yarn. It has installed airjet looms, continuous dyeing and processing as well as fully-automatised cutting, stitching and packing machines in this facility.
Trident has partnered trusted global textile technology brands like Picanol, Karl Mayer, Toyota, Staubli, Benninger, Rieter, Muratec, LMW, Trutzschler, Saurer, Savio and Uster, while investing in expansion and diversification.
The highlight of its world-class Budni manufacturing complex is the zero liquid discharge plant, which ensures that not a drop of waste water or effluent is discharged in the open. This plant comprises the most modern treatment and reverse osmosis plants that treat and reuse effluents. This has helped rationalize water and chemical consumption, strengthening business sustainability.
Trident has nine manufacturing units, in Barnala (Punjab) and Budni, with state-of-the-art facilities for ring spinning, carding, combing, open-ended spinning and yarn dying sourced from globally-renowned suppliers. The product range services the needs of the knitting, weaving, denim, hosiery, shirting and suiting segments.
The company has enhanced its annual production from 160 million to 360 million units, post this expansion. It recorded a turnover of Rs. 3,753.55 crores in 2014-15.
