Trident has always laid great emphasis on talent pool development in consonance with its vision & values. In 2006, Trident established Takshashila, the Center of Excellence and Leadership Development, to create “self-reliant & empowered youth”.

Situated at Dhaula in Barnala of Punjab, Takshashila symbolizes a platform where growth meets opportunity, and Trident successfully transforms the youth of today into leaders of tomorrow. Talshahsila does not only satisfy the learning needs but creates learning aspirations.

The flagship program of Takshashila is Learn, Earn and Grow wherein youth across geographies are selected through a rigorous process, trained in behavioral and technical aspects and then absorbed within the Trident Group. Till date, Takshashila has generated 12 successful batches of graduates and diploma holders, four batches of 10+2 and ITI pass-outs, and a total of about 750 incumbents that are today pacing the growth path across different business locations. In fact, recruits made through Takshashila form the backbone of the company.

Embarking on a massive expansion drive, Trident is in the process of recruiting its next batch of Takshashila diploma as well as graduates. For the diploma program, focused training is provided to reinforce the technical expertise of incumbents. The objective is to enhance the technical workforce so that they are well versed with the new technology that has been infused through technological interventions. Special emphasis is laid on world class practices, management concepts, behavioral training, leadership and team building, communication and 360 degree industrial training for the graduate program.

To imbibe the best management practices in the culture of Trident, training is provided to members on TPM initiatives for enhancing their knowledge so that they can contribute towards enhancing the productivity, quality and customer satisfaction. TPM interventions are Trident’s forte.

Takshashila functions on the principle of “Learn, Earn and Grow” which works well with the nature of courses offered at the centre. Here the youth are exposed to classroom training as well as on-the-job training which endows them with an opportunity to earn while studying. Through this initiative, the youth are also presented with growth opportunities while they are still in the process of learning the art of business excellence.

Adding value to lives

As a socially responsible corporate, Trident, through Takshashila, has also initiated skill development short-term and long-term courses and training programs aiming at empowering the youth of nearby villages at two Skills Schools that it runs in partnership with IL&FS and Sacred Heart Vocational Training Institute (SHVTI). Vulnerable and disadvantaged youth are brought back into the educational mainstream and trained in market-aligned trades. Their skills are enhanced through on-job training for four hours a day. They are also supported with stipend of Rs. 1,000 per month plus on-job stipend of Rs. 25 per hour spent on the shop-floor.

Takshashila has also been participating in a public-private partnership for all-round improvement of local government ITI (both women and boys) since its inception. ITI trainees perform on the job training at Trident and are paid a stipend of Rs. 25 per hour spent on the shop-floor.

Trident creates employability for differently abled people (DAP) as well. Through a blend of classroom and on-job training, skills development for DAP in textile-related trades is carried out. Trainees are paid stipend for on-job training at the rate of Rs. 25 per hour spent on the shopfloor.

Trident also provides state-of-the-art infrastructural facilities and education, and upon successful completion of training, the trainees are provided job opportunities within Trident’s different businesses – home textiles, yarn and paper.

This is in a way a CSR initiative to give back to the society which has provided growth opportunities to Trident in different ways.
