Future growth
The factors that would drive future growth in textile manufacturing are:
-Sustainability which covers business sustainability, social sustainability as well as environmental sustainability. This would obviously call for conservation of resources and is already a major part of the business plans of most of the textile manufacturers in the country. Any offering that leads to energy conservation is picked up by the customers readily.
Our principals LMW has factored in energy efficiency as a major factor in the product designing. In the current context, LMW products are the most energy efficient compared to other similar products. Similarly, all our other principals have a high degree of focus towards sustainability in their product design / manufacturing. In addition, we also offer energy conservation services as a part of our service portfolio, and many customers have gained through this initiative.
-With the ever-increasing pressure on margins in textile manufacturing, the focus on cost reduction needs to be only enhanced further. Automation is obviously one major route for cost reduction, which has also been realised by the industry very well. To give an example, the percentage of ring frames with auto doffer supplied in the market 10 years back used to be only 10%, while it has reached almost to the level of 100% now. Our principals LMW are offering automation solutions in each part of the spinning machinery, which includes automation in ring frames, speed frames, transportation of laps and roving bobbins, etc.
-Data driven decision making is the next factor. To ensure availability of right data and information, remote sensing through networking, big data, analytics and artificial intelligence are the enablers. The new era enabling data driven decision making is called Industry 4.0 and our principals LMW as well as other principals have made great strides towards the same.
Outlook
The Indian textile industry has huge opportunities for growth, fuelled by the needs of both domestic and export market. The geo-political developments like trade war and slowdown in Chinese economy would only accelerate the growth further.
Although, the spinning industry faced some challenges in the last few years year, it is sure to bounce back as the demand for quality yarn in the export and domestic market is on a rise. We expect that industry would invest in spinning capacities. Nevertheless, it is expected that a good balance would be maintained between new capacity creation and modernization.
Similarly, the investments in post spinning sectors like fabric forming & processing would also accelerate to meet the stringent needs of export market and the ever increasing needs on quality apparels from domestic market. We anticipate that the investments would continue to focus on segments like home textiles, knit garments and women fashion textiles. The new polices announced by States like Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Gujarat would also spur investments in both spinning and post spinning sector.
