Two firms team up for the project
Two Swiss companies from different regions have teamed up to realize sustainable textile printing. ErgoSoft AG sits on the tranquil shore of Lake Konstanz, while Mitloedi Textildruck AG enjoys a panorama of the Swiss landscape from high up in the Alps. Perhaps it’s the impressive natural surroundings which inspired the economical and sustainable business philosophies of the two companies.
The fact is that environmentally friendly developments have been accepted as the international standard and are becoming increasingly central to the textile industry. With this example, these two Swiss companies are demonstrating that digital textile printing and sustainable methods fit together well: unusual, specialty textiles, brilliant colors, high-quality printing blend to create a beautiful, durable, sustainable product.
The RIP and software used in production has a decisive impact on the quality and appearance of the finished product, particularly in the preparation and processing of print data. “If a manufacturing company prioritizes high-quality and color accurate production, and, either out of ecological or financial interests, wants to control and reduce production costs, ink and material usage, the field of compatible RIPs is narrowed down to those offered by ErgoSoft AG,” explains Hans Blesi, CEO of Mitloedi Textildruck AG. “Consequently, we chose ErgoSoft RIP when we launched our textile printing business, and it’s clearly been the right decision.”

Mitloedi’s day-to-day business operation goes to show that first-class products can be designed and produced using sophisticated workflows, without having to set any creative limits for designers.
But print quality is not Mitloedi’s only priority: ecological and economical interests have caused the company to implement a number of ErgoSoft’s features for saving material and ink by reducing scrap and wastage. Color Management tools allow Mitloedi to control the amount of ink they use, reducing it to the necessary minimum to avoid waste while still giving the best color results. The waste-reducing preflight feature within the ErgoSoft RIP enables either a digital preview or printed proof to ensure accurate print results.
To further reduce production losses, the RIP has a special color control function which ensures consistent color reproduction, allowing Mitloedi to reproduce colors accurately and on the first try, decrease sample prints and boost customer satisfaction.
Production costs can be determined using calculators which tally ink and media use and which, over a period of time, will show the bottomline savings resulting from efficient production.
