The city of Coimbatore is known for its dynamic entrepreneurial spirit. Sri Lakshmi Fire Controls is yet another example of this spirit. Established in 2012, it has taken rapid strides and is now counted among the leading players in the fire protection systems domain. The company is all set to participate in the forthcoming Texfair 2019 trade fair in Coimbatore.
In an exclusive one-on-one at the company’s manufacturing facility, Mr. A.S. Venkatakrishna, its CEO, said: “We have a technical collaboration with the German firm GreCon, a global leader in fire protection systems. The company is over hundred years old and has a strong customer base at the global level.”
The key solutions offered by the company include the metal detector and diversion system, spark detector and diversion system, and the smoke detector and diversion system, apart from fire extinguishers.
Going into details of the metal detection system, Mr. Venkatakrishna said: “Our system detects both ferrous and non-ferrous objects, right from small ring travellers to large-size bolts and bale pins. Nothing goes undetected. The specialty of our system is its ‘Speed Sense’ feature, which will adjust diversion delay timings according to the requirement of speed of the metal sensed, i.e., the travelling time of different metal sizes from the detector to the diverter matches the diversion gate opening time and ensures that all sensed metals are diverted, which, in turn, ensures 100% metal removal.”
Referring to the company’s spark detection and diversion system, Mr. Venkatakrishna observed that it comes with a high sensitivity sensor. “Since the detection takes place before 2 metres, the response is also earlier. It can detect even a small spark embedded with cotton. Even in case any particle objects the sensor, it will still sense the spark. The system comes with a reaction time of just 50 milliseconds. Additionally, the system also comes with periodic (every four hours) self-diagnostic feature. it is a 100% foolproof, fit and forget type system.”
Elaborating on the company’s smoke detection system for cotton warehouses, he pointed out how even small sparks can lead to a major fire in such an environment. “The system will detect the smoke and hand over the signal to the GreCon Control Console which is installed in a guard room outside the warehouse. The system is a thousand times more sensitive than generic smoke detectors. The innovative and highly sensitive light source technology helps in early fire detection.”
Mr. Venkatakrishna pointed out that the company prides itself on its aftermarket technical support service. “People are willing to purchase our product on priority because of our product technology, performance, quality and service,” he added.
As of now over 90% of the company’s clientele are from the textile industry. Some of the top names that use the company’s systems include KPR, Arvind, Himatsingka, Nitin Spinners, Sintex Industries, Trident, RSWM and Raymond Uco Denim Ltd.
Commenting on the company’s future plans, Mr. Venkatakrishna said: “We are planning to enter into a joint venture with GreCon. The entire process may take an year’s time. Once that happens, we will be catering to the needs of all the industries in the Indian market, and the textile industry globally. Discussions are going on and hopefully we will be making a formal announcement soon. We are also planning to expand our manufacturing unit in the near future.”
Welcoming visitors to the company stall at Texfair (Hall: B, Stall No.: BA – 56), he said: “We look forward to showcasing our expertise in the area of fire protection and interacting with a variety of stakeholders from the textile industry at the event.”
