“Spinnova completed 10 years of operations recently. We are basically a trading company and we represent some of the top global brands across different geographical territories. Our operations can be divided into 3 divisions – textiles, energy and fibres,” he said.
“So far as the textile division is concerned we represent consumables used in the industry such as Jumac, Elgi Tex, InspirOn and Forbo. As we all know Jumac is a leading manufacturer of superior quality HDPE sliver and spinning cans in the industry, which we represent in the Tamil Nadu market. Similarly, Elgi Tex offers several key accessories. InspirOn flyers is another high quality product we represent in the Tamil Nadu market. Forbo Siegling is from Switzerland and we supply their conveyor belts to leading OEMs. We represent them in the Tamil Nadu market,” he added.
Speaking about the energy division focus, Venkatesh mentioned, “We represent Reliance – High Speed Diesel, for institutional sales in Tamil Nadu such as for thermal plants and mining and infrastructure. We also supply all the lubricants of globally well-known Petronas brand. Similarly, we are also representing Ampus Solar- a member of the Petronas group and Rolgard Grease in the South Indian market.”
Going into details regarding the fibre division he remarked,” We represent the Ecologica Fibres brand for the entire South India market. The Ecologica range consists of sustainable natural fibres such as Flax (linen), Hemp, Bamboo, Wool and Cashmere. We have been selling close to 100 tons of fibres per month. Sustainable fibres is an area with good scope for growth and we intend expanding in this field in the future.”
The company with a 20 member team has got offices located in Salem and Madurai. “We have a talented team to take care of sales, service and back office operations. All the products that we deal with require minimal service support. If at all customers require service support we can always offer it with support from our principles, “he said.
Innovative product
Sounding happy at the response received at Texfair 2024, Venkatesh stated, “This is the 6th edition we are participating. We saw very good footfalls on all the days of the trade fair. While the industry is passing through a slack phase right now, hopefully this trade fair signals a change in the fortunes for the better.”
Going into details regarding a new product that it introduced during Texfair 2024, Venkatesh mentioned,” We are showcasing the ‘Solid Top Arm Loading System’ from PA Tex, which replaces top arms of existing ring frames. It saves air consumption in the drafting zone due to pressure hose elimination. There is also visible power saving. It is an innovative, reliable, versatile and user friendly top arm loading conversion system for spinning applications, which requires almost no service. We are Pan-India representatives for the product.”
Strategic growth plan
On the topic of future plans for Spinnova, Venkatesh explained,” Our objective has always been to provide value added service to the customer. The products that we supply should be able to bring down the running cost. For example, take the case of Petronas Spindle oil, which is validated by LMW. While earlier with other brands mills needed to change spindle oil every six months, now with the spindle oil we offer, they need to change only once a year. So, our aim is to go in for such selective products, which contribute to sustainability of the textile industry.”
Shedding light on the immediate outlook for the textile industry he said,” While it is true that the industry is passing through a downturn right now, it is only through value addition, focus on enhancing quality and diversification of products , that long term sustenance is possible. Hopefully, things will bounce back to normalcy very soon.”
