The Coimbatore-based SKAAT Group has always been known for its innovative range of fancy yarn machinery. The company has been literally going places, with its products finding wide acceptance in many key global markets. It is all set to spring some surprises with its new launches at the forthcoming ITMA 2019 event. SKAAT has been participating regularly at the premier event since the 2011 edition.
In an exclusive chat with The Textile Magazine, Mr. R. Indrajith, General Manager of the company, mentioned that this edition of ITMA is going to be very special for SKAAT. “We have lined up some surprises for the visitors to our stall. As you know that we are an established brand in fancy yarn equipment in India as well as key global markets. We started off with manufacturing of fancy yarn equipment, subsequently adding several interesting products down the years including functional yarns like core spun yarns with normal lycra filament, polyester filament, specially made lycra T400 filament for unique applications like elastic strips/fabrics/garments, higher strength yarns like poly core and poly core yarns for high performance sewing threads and for shape retention fitness fancy denims/garments. Continuing with our tradition of innovation, we will be showcasing some new products in ITMA which are sure to have an instant connect with the visitors to our stall.”
Mr. G. Radhakrishnan, Managing Director of the company, spoke about the importance of such events and said: “ITMA is a platform which provides the launch pad for our new products as well as the unique opportunity to meet potential customers from all around the world. ITMA is very important to us to showcase our new and current range of products.
We are already well established in the Indian market and well known in certain key global markets. Our objective is to get orders from markets where we do not have a presence now. At present our exports constitute about 40% of our total sales.”
He said FY 2018-19 has been very positive for the company, it has been able to penetrate into the north Indian market in a big way. “We have been able to make a large number of installations in the northern parts of the country and we hope that the trend will continue in the near future,” said Mr. Indrajith.
“There could be times when our competitors’ price could be cheaper. But price alone should not be the criteria to influence a customer’s buying decision. Specialty of SKAAT’s fancy yarn attachment incorporated in the existing ring frame lies in its ability to be easily modified to respond to altered circumstances faced by the customers to go in for various other varieties of fancy yarn patterns, in the same ring frame, as demanded from the continuously changing marketing scenario.”
“When a customer is going in for a ring frame attachment with the capability of producing just a basic slub yarn, it should not limit the customer only with this feature. If he wants to go in for other fancy effects, as demanded by the market, in the same ring frame, say, for instance, roving injection, SIRO, dual slub, mosaic effect, it is very much easier and feasible with SKAAT’s products. With other company products, the production is limited to particular fancy effects, whereas with SKAAT’s products they can always add on such production capability with minimal additional investment on the existing ring frame,” he added.
The company has always been known for its strong focus on after sales & service. The service teams are stationed at different parts of the country like Guntur, Pune, Ahmedabad and Coimbatore. “In overseas markets our agents take care of the service part. With our machines, remote troubleshooting is also possible,” Mr. Radhakrishnan explained.
The company has gone in for a sprawling 120 sq. m. stand at ITMA 2019. “We are present in Hall: H 7 & Stand: A 111, demonstrating a working pilot ring frame, incorporated with all these features for the benefit of visiting customers to have a glance and feel of SKAAT’s equipment. We welcome visitors from around the world to visit our stall and take a look at our range of value-added products in the areas of fancy yarn segment, functional yarn segment, ring frame process enhancement and automation segments for the spinning industry.’’
