Sintex showcases solutions for the textile industry at Texfair 2024

‘Sintex’ is a name that needs an introduction to anyone in India. It is a name that has become synonymous with water tanks. However, not many people know that the brand is equally strong in industrial products too. From pharmaceuticals to engineering, chemical companies to water treatment and textiles, there are several industrial sectors which use Sintex’s products.

The company’s booth at Texfair 2024 was buzzing with visitors during the recently held Texfair 2024 trade show held in Coimbatore. Shyamsundar Rao Appalla, Vice President-Sales, Sintex- BAPL Limited, speaking on the sidelines of the event shared detailed insights about the brand and its solutions for the textile industry.

Speaking about the company’s product offerings for the textile industry, he shared, “While it is true that Sintex is a household name, not many people are aware that it has hundreds of other products other than the domestic water tank. The reason we are participating in Texfair 2024 is to showcase our range of products for the textile industry. Our ‘CV’ range is our smallest product which are chemical storage tanks. These are designed to handle chemicals. Normally, in industries till now metal containers were used to store chemicals. Our CV range is a better option for it won’t corrode, light weight and durable. We check the parameters such as specific gravity, density, temperature of the chemical, etc. before we recommend these tanks.”

“Our fastest moving products in the textile industry are the doff baskets which are used for storage of garments, available in a variety of dimensions and sizes. The third product are our FRP tanks, which are basically large storage chemical tanks. You can also store fuel in these tanks. They are also used extensively in retail petrol pumps and factories for this purpose. There are hundreds of SKUs within the product range I have mentioned. Apart from the solutions mentioned for the textile industry, we Sintex makes SMC panel tanks. Waste water treatment plants is another big product category. Similarly, SMC panel electrical enclosures is another one of our big categories “he added.

Sintex has five manufacturing plants located in Kalol near Ahmedabad in Gujarat, Nalagarh in Punjab, Nagpur in Maharashtra, Uluv near Kolkata in West Bengal and Namakkal in Tamil Nadu.

Shyamsundar mentioned that after the acquisition by the Welspun group in 2023, there have been lot of changes happening. “There is lot of investments that is being made. Sintex is also planning to launch plastic PVC pipes. It is a synergy since anyone going in for a water tank will also need a pipe. Hopefully, we will be launching the pipes by next year. “

Innovation driven

Pointing out to the competitive edge that has made Sintex such a strong brand, he said, “Firstly, we have never compromised on quality. In fact, our quality is considered the gold standard in the industry. We offer warranty for up to 15 years for some of our products, which is something unheard of in the industry. Secondly, we have always been the innovator in the market. All the products that you see in the Sintex product basket were originally introduced by us. Innovation has been the key behind our growth story. “

Growth strategy

“We are participating in Texfair for the second time. We are showcasing our range for the textile industry here and we are happy with the response that we are getting. Coimbatore being an industrial city, visitors have shown a keen interest in our range of products,” he said.

Throwing light on the growth strategies of the company going forward, Shyamsundar said that they have been catering to the Tamil Nadu market by getting down products from the Kalol plant. “This sometimes resulted in delays during transit. After participating in the event, we have realized that we should start manufacturing locally in our Namakkal plant, for it will help us avoid such delays and we can serve the Coimbatore and Tamil Nadu market better. Hopefully this becomes a reality in a few months’ time,” he said signing off.
