With 210 exhibitors and more than 75,000 trade visitors, the 8th edition of Texfair show organized by the South India Mills Association (SIMA) held at the CODISSIA trade fair complex in Coimbatore during December 13-16 was considered by many as the blockbuster event of 2013.
The SIMA Chairman, Mr. T. Rajkumar, stated that the Indian textile industry growth is gaining momentum, with widening domestic and overseas demand. All the exhibitors received a good number of trade enquiries during the four-day event worth about Rs. 500 crores.
This edition of Texfair was indeed very well organized right from the inaugural function, stall layout, daily seminars, etc., with SIMA’s professional touch adding to its grandeur. The profile of exhibitors included leading international and national textile machinery manufacturers, spares and accessories suppliers, component manufacturers, textile agents and other service providers. Concurrently another event at the same venue called the Farm to Finish Expo 2013 was organised. This new initiative, taken by SIMA for the first time, attracted a number of exhibitors, right from cottonseed suppliers to finished garment makers, including retailing, educational institutions, export promotion councils and different associations representing the entire textile value chain.
Some of the main objectives of Texfair 2013 were to provide a platform for the stake-holders to zero in on their investments and expenses prudently, showcase their innovative and cost-effective products, enable the technocrats and shop-floor technicians to update their knowledge on the latest technology, create an awareness on cost cutting, and to encourage micro, small and medium entrepreneurs also to showcase their products.
“For the first time ever, since the beginning of Texfair, seven Chinese companies participated directly in this expo”, said Mr. S. Dinakaran. The growing popularity of the show was evident in a number of European exhibitors at the show stating that they were immensely pleased with the quality of products presented and of the crowd at the four-day event.
A detailed coverage of the exhibitors at Texfair and the response they evoked will be covered in our January issue.
