Shiv Krupa Cotspin and Mohler India provide customers with an extra edge

Shiv Krupa Cotspin Private Limited, one of the leading textile mills from the western part of the country, shares an excellent relationship with Mohler India. The company uses the complete range of Mohler India’s products including overhead travelling cleaners (OHTCs), bobbin transport system (BTS) and yarn conditioning plant (YCP). We caught up with the company’s Executive Director Aditya Sunil Agrawal and got to know more about the excellent rapport that it shares with Mohler India and how the latter’s machinery has made a difference to their productivity

Aditya Sunil Agrawal, Executive Director

The eventful journey of Shiv Krupa Cotspin makes for interesting reading. Going into details, the company’s Executive Director Aditya Sunil Agrawal informs: “We belong to a reputed textile family of the 19th century (Pratap Spinning and Weaving Mill, Amalner and Dhule) but then after witnessing big ups and downs of life, my father Sunil Agrawal, started his cotton ginning career at the age of 35 along with my uncle, Ghansham Agrawal, in 1997 with our first ginning and pressing unit at Chopda (Shivshakti Ginning and Pressing Factory).

After tasting success in this first endeavour, he started another ginning and pressing unit along with my uncle, Ashish Agrawal, in 2008 at Chopda itself (Shivkrupa Cotton Fibre). With the clear vision and dream of our elder family members to take it from farm to fibre, we planned to start spinning mill for manufacturing 100% cotton yarn. In 2017, we incorporated our company Shiv Krupa Cotspin Private Limited and started the commercial operations of our 14,592 spindles unit in July 2019.”

“Located in the centre of Khandesh’s Jalgaon district we have an advantage in availability of quality raw material which is our strength. Our extra superior Khandesh Cotton (Mahacot) is a gift of nature to the industry,” he adds. Highlighting the key points of the company’s manufacturing infrastructure, he mentions, “Our current capacity is of 14,592 spindles with the latest machineries. Having the latest world-class innovative machineries installed with maximum automation. We want to stay updated in terms of our production standards. Along with cutting-edge automation, our approach towards using the best quality raw material produces yarn with the highest level of quality possible.”

“We also have incorporated the world’s No.1 testing laboratory that comes straight from Uster, Switzerland. We just love staying updated with the fully automated and latest machineries in our spinning mill. We produce yarn using state-of-the-art technology and world-class machinery from top-notch suppliers globally and that too with more than 95% of capacity utilisation,” he adds. Presenting an overview of the products and solutions offered by the company, Agrawal states: “We are currently manufacturing the traditional non-compact yarns of both the carded and combed varieties.”

“Spinning is the foundation process and all the subsequent value-additions i.e. weaving, knitting, processing, garmenting, etc. depend upon it. We are committed to produce quality yarn with top-class cotton and intellectual technical personnel. To ensure our commitment, we have invested in the best and world-class machineries. We also conduct strict management and quality control, which are carried out continuously and intensively, to ensure high standards. We are manufacturing premium quality combed and carded cotton yarn from Ne 24 to Ne 46 for knitting and weaving application. Our products help our customers reproduce high-quality end-user targeted products. Some of them include woven and knitted apparel, hosiery wear, etc.,” he adds.

Expansion Plans

Answering a question on how the Indian government’s focus on the textile industry is helping the company, Agrawal remarks, “The textile industry plays an important role in our country’s overall economy. The Indian government continuously strives hard for the betterment of the textile industry as it contributes to the multiple areas of economy like huge employment generation, exports, etc. Currently, the central government is not extending any incentives specifically to the spinning industry though there are many incentives for the textile industry from the government.”

“But as the Indian government’s focus is always there on the development and growth of the textile industry, various state governments are offering attractive incentive schemes to promoters and entrepreneurs who wish to contribute to development of the textile industry. We are really thankful to the Government of Maharashtra for all the schemes for supporting the industry as in such a highly competitive and tough global scenario, the focus of the government and their support through different schemes and incentives plays the role of a lifeline,” he adds.

The company is planning to add capacity in the near future. Elaborating, Agrawal says, “The current capacity is of 14,592 spindles of ring-spinning and we have started the work of our Unit II comprising 21,888 spindles of 100% combed compact ring-spinning. We have also processed the order of the machines for this project with top textile machinery manufacturers such as Lakshmi Machine Works (LMW), Coimbatore and Savio, Italy. Moreover, we are also planning to invest in open-end spinning machines of Rieter, Switzerland along with the TFOs to cater to our existing customers with their doubled yarn and coarser counts yarn demand.”

The Mohler Connect

The company shares an excellent relationship with Mohler India. “We are a family. Yes, this summarises it all. Shivkrupa Cotspin and Mohler India share a very close and fantastic relationship with each other. Everybody is here to do business and while the world is being completely commercial, thinking over and above the business is really crucial. I have been to Mohler India, Coimbatore and the kind of hospitality extended to me was just exceptional. The relationship Mohler India maintains with the customer is something which gives them an extra edge,” Agrawal says.
“We are happy to have all the products of Mohler India as their performance is good. Moreover, the most important part is after-sales support and that is where Mohler India proves itself as the best,” Agrawal adds.

Speaking about the after-sales services provided by Mohler India, Agrawal observes: “We are using the Mohler India’s products from July 2019 i.e. more than three years now. In the field of machinery manufacturing, after-sales support is far more vital than sales because this is what keeps you going and sustain in the market. The after sales-service of Mohler India is excellent with their complete support. We are satisfied with the products and after-sales services and hence highly recommend Mohler India’s complete package and henceforth we too are going to consider Mohler India’s products again for our expansion project,” he states.

Finally, when asked about the vision that he has for the company by 2027, Agrawal comments: “The future for the textile industry is really bright and we have set a realistic vision for our company. We have been working in the textile industry for more than 25 years now and have always strived hard for the betterment of our beloved farmers. Our aim has always been to be able to offer them the best returns for their harvested cotton. We plan to have more than 50,000 spindles in our manufacturing facilities by the end of 2027 with further diversification and forward integration in knitting as well as garmenting.”

The company is using all the products in Mohler India’s portfolio. The list includes:
• Overhead travelling cleaners (OHTCs) for Rieter ring frames
• Overhead travelling cleaners (OHTCs) for Muratec link coners
• Bobbin transport system (BTS) from Electrojet speed frames to Rieter ring frames
• Yarn conditioning plant (YCP) of 1,200 kg per hour capacity.
