Sclavos was founded in Athens, Greece, in 1958 to manufacture parts for textile machinery and to conduct repair works. In the 1950s, the company came out with its first fabric dyeing machine and later exported advanced versions of these machines to Europe, the US and Asia. Its ‘Aquachron’, a revolutionary continuous washing system, was incorporated in the new Venus machines in 1995, and its new series of Athena machines for dyeing of knits and terry towel fabrics had tremendous success in almost 40 countries worldwide. In 2012, the company launched the new Athena 3 with additional features in fabric dyeing, making it the state-of-the-art in the dyeing industry.
Indian market presence
Sclavos is present in the Indian textile market for more than two decades and has installed over 300 machines across the country, in areas where textile business is very active. It has partnered with some of the big names in the corporate industry which cover the whole range of fabric processing, bleaching, knitting, weaving and terry towels.
Arvind Ltd. of India continues to invest in Sclavos fabric dyeing machines from time to time. The recent addition of four of the latest generation Athena 3 Sclavos dyeing machines to produce close to 250 tons a month of special knit fabrics is another testimony to the Arvind belief in staying with the latest technology in fabric dyeing, keeping the tradition of going with Sclavos as always.
With this new addition, Arvind produces 9600 tons per annum of knitted fabrics, most of which from Sclavos machines. The Arvind decision to stay with Sclavos for over two decades has proved an added feather on the latter’s cap.
Sclavos Athena 3 fabric dyeing machines helps customers at the global level to gradually reduce their carbon footprint by significantly minimising water consumption and CO2 emissions as these machines represent the highest standards of efficiency in terms of reduced power, steam and water consumption.
Sclavos strongly believes in long-term relationship with its customers and agents. In India, Knitfab Technics Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai, has been the company’s exclusive agent for nearly 23 years. Engineers from Knitfab have been trained at the company’s facility in Athens. This long-standing association has helped both the organizations in spreading the Sclavos technology across the entire Indian market.
