Sarla Performance Fibers, first Indian firm to make Nylon 66

Sarla Performance Fibers Ltd. (SPFL), a 100 per cent EOU manufacturing high value-added nylon and polyester yarn and threads and enjoying strong customer relationships with renowned brands across the Americas, Europe and Asia, has begun manufacture of Nylon 66 high tenacity yarn. Nylon 66 high tenacity and lower shrinkage yarn product is a niche and specialized offering. High-end users include parachutes, car air bags, specialized sewing applications in automotive, shoes, leather, industrial filters, hoses, etc.

The highly technically value-added product currently manufactured only by a few companies worldwide is thus being produced in India.

Commenting on the successful completion and inauguration of the project, Mr. Krishna Jhunjhunwala, Managing Director of Sarla Performance Fibers, said: “We are delighted to announce that after a significant amount of time, effort and investment, Sarla has now begun the manufacture of Nylon 66, joining the elite league of a few companies having similar offerings. This high tenacity and lower shrinkage product has strong demand for premium applications the world over.”

SPFL is a 100 per cent EOU engaged in the manufacturing and export of high value add polyester and nylon textured, twisted and dyed yarns, covered yarns, high tenacity yarns and sewing thread. Beginning as a manufacturer of commodity yarns, the company has successfully shifted its focus and established itself as a manufacturer of specialized and higher value added yarns. Its strength lies in customizing the product as per individual customer requirements and specifications.

Over the years SPFL has expanded its activities with the upgradation of the existing facilities in India, as well as through creation of new facilities overseas with the primary objective of establishing closer relations with customers to provide quick and efficient services to them. With clients in all major countries across the globe and a presence in key international locations, the company has developed a strong customer base. Today, the company is run by its promoters, Mr. Madhusudhan Jhunjhunwala, Chairman, and Mr. Krishna Jhunjhunwala, Managing Director.

Headquartered in Mumbai, the company has its manufacturing facilities at Silvassa and Vapi. It has an installed capacity of 11,900 tons per annum for manufacturing yarns at the Silvassa plant and 3,200 tons per annum at the Vapi dyeing unit.
