Sabar Group: Innovating the Future of Spinning Roll Shop Machinery for Over Five Decades

In the ever-evolving textile industry, Sabar Group stands as a beacon of innovation and reliability. With a rich legacy spanning over five decades, the company has consistently pushed the boundaries of Spinning Roll Shop Machinery manufacturing. In an exclusive interview, Devarsh Shah, Director of Sabar Group, shares insights into the company’s journey, product innovations, growth strategies, and commitment to sustainability.

A Legacy of Excellence:

“Sabar is a leading manufacturer of Spinning Roll Shop Machines in India with a rich legacy of over 50 years,” says Devarsh Shah, Director of Sabar Group. “As the fourth generation member of the family business, I oversee the overall strategic operations, new product development initiatives, and international market at Sabar.”

Sabar Group was established in 1969 by Shah’s great-grandfather with the vision of introducing advanced textile machinery to India. The company started with manufacturing Cot grinding machines, essential for maintaining Cots quality, which in turn helps in achieving the best yarn quality for Spinning mills. Over the years, Sabar has expanded its portfolio to become a one-stop shop for all auxiliary machine requirements of Spinning mills, offering over 25 machines that include Cot Grinding machine, Cot Mounting / De-Mounting Machine, UV Top Roller Treatment machine, Top Roller Greasing Machine, Flock Roller cleaning machine, Bobbin Roving End Opening Machine, Spindle Lubricating Machine etc. Today, Sabar has installed over 3200 machines across 50+ countries, earning the trust of top spinning producers worldwide.

Innovative Product Line:

“Our flagship product is the Cot Grinding machine, which we have continuously innovated over the years,” explains Shah. “We introduced hydraulic and then fully automatic versions with servo controlled systems. A major breakthrough was our Servo controlled Cot Grinding machine’s range, which employs advanced servo motor technology for grinding cots precisely to a predetermined diameter using diameter set software.”

Sabar’s product innovations don’t stop there. The company offers models like the SERVO2 AUTOCOT, DUALHEAD SERVOCOT, SERVOCOT and AUTOCOT-SERVO CONTROLLED which are developed and offered to customers looking at their spindle capacity. Along with the Cot Grinding Machine, all other roll shop machines have been modified to achieve the best and most effective results. Embracing Industry 4.0 concepts such as IoT, predictive maintenance, and automated quality checks, Sabar delivers high-tech, connected solutions to the textile industry.

Driving Innovation and R&D:

“Innovation has been core to our success,” says Shah. “We have a dedicated in-house R&D team that works closely with textile engineers and mills to understand their pain points. This helps define the right technology roadmap.”

Sabar’s R&D process involves developing prototypes based on feedback and market trends, followed by robust testing at their NABL-accredited labs. The company continuously enhances the features of established products based on data analytics. Going forward, Sabar plans to focus on integrations with Industry 4.0 platforms to remain ahead of the curve.

Strategic Growth and Global Expansion:

“The Indian textiles market continues to be a sizeable opportunity, and we enjoy a good market share here, Shah says.

On the export front, Sabar is boosting its Made-in-India branding through aggressive marketing initiatives in regions like Bangladesh, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Egypt, Turkey, Indonesia, and several other countries globally. The company aims to provide the best engineered Spinning Roll Shop Machines. Sabar is also exploring acquisitions and joint ventures, especially in developed markets, to access advanced technologies and diversify into manufacturing value-added components for a globally integrated presence.

Commitment to Sustainability:

“Sustainability is a key priority,” emphasises Shah. “Most of our new machines are environment-friendly with features like minimised energy consumption.”

Sabar retrofits older installations with efficiency enhancement kits and undertakes skill development programmes, partnering with technical institutes for training Textile engineers. Sabar’s R&D is aligned to help mills optimise resource usage through advanced automation and digitization. Sabar’s focus also lies in providing the most user-friendly and, at the same time, advanced machines.

With a steadfast commitment to innovation, quality, and sustainability, Sabar Group continues to lead the Spinning Roll Shop Machinery manufacturing industry. Under the strategic leadership of Devarsh Shah and his dedicated team, Sabar is poised to achieve greater heights and contribute significantly to the global textile landscape. “A properly guided team with a strong leader can achieve and maintain great success, and Sabar is blessed with these qualities. I am confident we will continue to excel in the future,” concludes Shah.
