The event was attended by many Senior Executives from Rieter and Suessen along with some of their key customers, including Mr. B.K. Patodia, Chairman and Managing Director, GTN Group, Mr. Sudhakar Chowdary, Managing Director of Mohan Spintex, Mr. B.B. Sharma, CEO (Textile Projects), Sintex, and others. Rieter and Suessen felicitated their Indian customers on this occasion. India continues to be the largest market for Suessen globally.

Established in 1920, Suessen has been of great value for the spinning industry, providing an immeasurable number of innovations and developments with lasting effect and influence on the history of spinning. Some historic developments are the TwinDisc for OE-Rotor SpinBoxes, the SpinBoxes SE-Series for Autocoro Rotor Spinning Machines SE 7 – SE 10, the HP-SpinSet for ring spinning machines and the EliTe Compact Spinning System.

Suessen has a long history of its presence in the Indian market. The company is currently represented in India by Venus Textile Systems Pvt. Ltd. (VTS). Incorporated in 2002, VTS has played an important role in the success of Suessen in the Indian market. VTS has been managed by its directors, Mr. Mathew Jose (South), Mr. K.C. Oberoi (North) and Mr. Kakkar (Central).

Mr. Peter Stahlecker has in many ways been the face of Suessen to customers in India. He has been associated with the Indian market for nearly 25 years.

In one of our previous interactions Mr. Peter Stahlecker, Managing Director, Spindelfabrik Suessen GmbH, said: “When Suessen introduced EliTe in 2000, we did so in various countries. Initially, it was slow to catch on anywhere, but several Indian industrialists caught on, they grasped the advantages. There were numerous problems to be overcome, both from a technical and from a technological point of view. Without the help of the mills’ technical management and without the patience of the owners, we could not have succeeded!”.

He added: “Initially, compact yarn was for shirting. This is where it started. Over time other woven products were added to the list of successful applications. There was, however, “universal consent” that compact yarn could not be used for hosiery applications. One Indian customer tried it anyway and today more than a million EliTe spindles are used in hosiery application all over India”.

Leadership in compact ring spinning

Suessen has made considerable investments in continuous R&D, combined with applied research that is directly carried out at our customers’ mills. This ensures that the company is able to further develop its technical and technological components in an uncompromising and resolute manner. In particular, Suessen has been focussing on universal applicability, improved yarn quality, increased service life, reduced maintenance and proven reliability in industrial application.

At ITME 2016, Suessen highlighted the EliTe CompactSet, a compact spinning system, which can be installed on nearly all types of ring spinning machines. The system includes various innovations resulting in better yarn quality and increased productivity. An example is the EliTube Concept: as the fibre path within the drafting system is off-centred and the slot inclination is varied from left to right depending on the machine side, the use of top roller cots and aprons can be doubled. The main goal of this and the other innovations is increasing lifetime of the components and reducing maintenance costs.

The EliTe CompactSet can be equipped with the optional EliTwist enabling the production of compact two-ply yarn on ring spinning machines. EliTwist is highly suitable to spin two-ply core yarns.

Suessen also presented various new premium parts for rotor spinning machines. The new TwistTrap Navel is a modified navel with a patented twist-retaining element. The navel, which is applicable to all types of SpinBoxes, provides an additional false twist, which results in better spinning stability. The production increases by 10 per cent to 15 per cent due to the possible twist reduction.

Another new Premium Part is the PS7 TwinDisc. There is substantially less flexing work between rotor shaft and disc, as the width of the disc is reduced from 10 mm to 7 mm. Due to the lower energy consumption – up to 11 W per spinning unit are possible depending on the rotor speed – the pay-back period of this innovative component is very short.
