At a special session held on June 24, ACIMIT, the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers, appointed Ms. Raffaella Carabelli as its President, replacing outgoing President Sandro Salmoiraghi.
Ms. Raffaella Carabelli was born at Sorengo in Switzerland. After earning her degree in Business Administration from Milan’s L. Bocconi University, she joined her family business, Fadis S.p.A., a manufacturer yarn processing machinery, overseeing its sales management operations.
Ms. Carabelli has been a member of the ACIMIT Board of Directors since 2005, serving as the Association Vice President since 2009. She is ACIMIT’s representative at ITMF, the International Federation of Textile Manufacturers, and is a member of the Italian delegation at CEMATEX, the Committee of European Textile Machinery Associations.
Following her election, the assembly expressed its warm gratitude to the outgoing President, Sandro Salmoiraghi, who guided ACIMIT with enthusiasm and professionalism for four years.
Italy’s textile machinery industry covers around 300 companies, employing 12,000 people. Production for the sector in 2012 amounted to 2.417 billion euros. Exports represented 83 per cent of production in 2012, totalling 2.007 billion euros. Sales of machinery abroad are directed at some 130 countries.
