Having developed machinery for recycling of textile waste that recovers and opens fibre with excellent fibre quality parameters, Perfect Group has emerged a leader in its segment, informs B Sankar, General Manager, Perfect Engineering in this exclusive interview
Could you share with us the journey of Perfect Group till date?
Ahmedabad-based Perfect Group laid the foundation of its business in 1973 by Amrutbhai Mistry. He found a trusted partner who shared his vision in Ishwarbhai and it was the fruit of their labour that has led the company so far. Emphasis on quality and fair trade practices is what has stood the company in good stead for almost 50 years. We initially started with cast iron bare flats manufacturing for cards and were a pioneer in this field, supplying for OEM card manufacturers. From 1980, we started supplying service equipments for the roll shop and card room for spinning. We launched the fully automatic cot grinding machine in 2003 and since then we have been enjoying a major market share worldwide.
Later, we developed carding machinery followed by the addition of a broader range of machinery developed for cotton and synthetic blending blow room machinery, hard waste recycling, soft waste recycling, surgical cotton processing and nonwoven machinery. The continuous development for machinery for recycling of textile waste has opened up a major market, both domestic and overseas. Our machinery for textile waste recycling recovers and opens fibre with excellent fibre quality parameters. It has been a decade now since we have been supplying overhead travelling cleaner manufactured in collaboration with Magitex SRL Italy for various textile machines like ring spinning, auto coner, two-for-one twister, weaving looms, warping, knitting, etc.
How is the current business scenario?
We are doing exceptionably well. With the cotton prices going up and almost doubling compared to what they were 3-4 years back, everyone in the textile industry is concerned and now more importance is given to recycling of textile waste for recovery and re-use. Our textile recycling machinery is therefore attracting more attention. Our installation of recycling machinery at our customers’ site has been doing well since over more than five years. European and other well-developing markets demand textile material supply with the use of recycled fibre these days and are becoming more stringent in terms of standards. All the above factors lead to more enquiries and orders are on the rise. The group has increased the building floor work space by about 3-4 times for meeting and increasing the delivery of more machinery.
What are the current products and solutions that you offer to the market?
Perfect Engineering Corporation has emerged as one of the leading technology solution providers for textile waste management for opening soft waste, hard waste, fabric waste and rag waste and helping for green textile recycling. The group also supplies machinery for cotton and synthetic fibre preparatory processing machinery. We have introduced following machinery:
• Blow Room Line: Full range of machines
• Card, Model 1000: Highest carding area of 2.9 meters, having all features required in modern cards matching performance offered by other domestic manufacturers.
• Waste Cotton Recycling Line: To recover usable fibres from blow room and card waste for use in spinning of lower counts or open end spinning and helping to maximise use of costly raw material.
• Textile Waste Recycling Plant: To recycle hard waste or fabric waste of any kind to regenerate fibres for use in spinning or other applications.
• Overhead travelling cleaners: In technical collaboration with Magitex of Italy.
Perfect Group offers the same OHTC to customers in the domestic Indian market under the Perfect Magitex brand. The group’s philosophy has been to offer modern and high production machines and make them available to the industry at competitive and affordable prices. We also represent Bonino Carding Solutions, Italy as a sales and service partner for technical textiles, nonwovens, sanitary, woollen and recycling machinery for the Indian market.
What are the key market developments during the current year?
For the current year textile waste recycling machinery, blow room, cards and overhead travelling cleaners are in manufacturing. One of our spinning mills set up four years back for manufacturing recycled yarn in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu has given more confidence to other customers to go for such setups, resulting in orders of 7-8 setups of blow room and carding line in this area and North India also. The successful installation of some of the cotton waste recycling machines in fully auto mode feeding dropping waste generation from blow room and carding has generated more interest amongst spinners.
Handling 300-500 kg of cotton waste from blow room and cards involves more manpower for feeding again to cotton waste recycling manually. Auto feeding saves manpower cost. Currently we are working for such projects with auto mode feeding with primary storage boxes for both cotton waste and hard waste recycling setups. There is good demand in the area of hygiene textiles, also because the Indian market is emerging as one of the major suppliers to international markets. Our successful handover of projects for absorbency cotton rolls and zigzag is generating more interest amongst customers and we have the confidence of delivering more and more such projects around India and for the international markets.
Could you mention some of your key installations?
We have a presence in Bangladesh, South Africa and Pakistan for hard waste recycling. We have also installed special card with double doffer for absorbency cotton for fully atomised rolling or zigzag formation of card web. The double doffer card for cotton can deliver high density weight of web of up to 50 grams per sq. metre. The higher output of thick web from card eases the formation of cotton rolls or zigzag automation. We have set up a special card 1275 BSD model at Vardhman Group and at Auro Spinning in Himachal Pradesh to add value to the recycling of hard waste, particularly for finer count yarns, shirting and suiting fabrics. The special card, 1275 BSD, opens tougher spun yarn hard waste fully with good length and lower short fibre generation. Recently we also supplied machines for opening nonwoven side trims into fibre for re-use.
What are the strengths of Perfect Group?
We can deliver and meet customer expectations at affordable price and match quality with European suppliers. We use state-of-the-art machinery from From USA, Europe, Japan. Our design department uses Solid Edge software of Siemens. We also use animation for creating instruction manuals and customer training. We have always maintained excellent after-sales service.
Have you made any significant investment or planned any major investments in 2022?
The investments made are for increasing the workspace and meeting the increasing demand for machinery. We have added 1,50,000 sq. feet of space. A dedicated training centre is also planned for our customers and we will add more machines for CNC, laser cutting and bending.
What have been your biggest achievements after joining Perfect Group?
I have been directly engaged in the following:
• Continuous design and development of machinery for meeting the expectation of customers.
• Developing a modern blow room line.
• New generation, high production card for cotton, regenerated fibre, absorbent cotton and nonwoven.
• Textile waste recycling lines for hard waste, fabric waste, cotton waste and nonwoven trim.
What is the company’s vision for the coming years?
Our main vision and focus is on textile waste recycling and technical textiles. At present most of the global leading brands are emphasising on recycled mixed garments and this leading to a compulsion for having recycling machinery setup in-house. We have always believed in providing value-additions and have worked on special card for regenerated fibre having breast roller with stationery flats. We see from here that there will be acceptance for such ideal methodology for regenerated fibre. Many nonwoven fabric manufacturers in India do not open their side trim waste due to non-availability of affordable and effective technology. Perfect machinery can fulfil this requirement.
What about your participation at India ITME?
We will be exhibiting our products at Stall H10 A7B12 and all the visitors are welcome to discuss our wide range of machines. We will be displaying high production card and various samples of opened fibre from textile waste.
We will be displaying High production card, Technology for regenerating fibres, OHTC. State of the art automatic cot grinding and card maintenace machine.
