Nova Dyestuff Industries (P) Ltd., the flagship enterprise of the Nova Group, was established in 1987. Going commercially on-stream in 1989, the company has a product base ranging from disperse dyes to dye intermediates. Over the past decade, Nova Dyestuff has risen to become one of the leading brands in the dyes and dye intermediates industry with a sterling reputation. At the forefront of the Nova Group’s remarkable success and market leadership lies years of rich experience, vision and direction of one man, its founder, Late Omprakash Jain.
Revered all over Surat for his impeccable proficiency and spotless reputation in the dyes industry, ‘Babuji’ as he was fondly called, stood as a tower of inspiration for the Nova Group. Today, the executive functions and day-to-day management of the group are ably handled by its Chairman and Director Kamal Jain and his son, Jinesh Jain.
Kamal Jain, a graduate in commerce and business, joined the family business immediately after completing his studies in 1989. He helped his father and the founder of the company, Late Omprakash Jain, to lay the foundation of the Nova Group and enter the dyes and chemicals industry in India. The roots of the Nova Group actually date back to the year 1977. What began as a small trading enterprise dealing in textiles later transformed into a dyeing house, Shalu Dyeing and Printing Works, in 1983. Subsequently, the company entered the international market, exporting sarees and dress material under the banner of Shalu Exports.
Value-Additions and Verticals
Over the years, the company added a new dimension to its expertise in graphic design by adapting it to serve various other areas. The fruits of this endeavour reflect in Shalu Information Technology (P) Ltd., a promoting group subsidiary which has won acclaim as a prominent IT-based solutions provider in specialised areas. Another firm, Novacid, was formed in 1991 and its commercial production started in 1995.
