Shreyaskar Chaudhary is Managing Director & CEO of Pratibha Syntex Ltd. Shreyaskar is a graduate in Textile Technology from UMIST, Manchester and is extremely passionate about building processes that minimize environmental impact and maximize social impact.
He initiated the organic farming project ‘Vasudha’ at Pratibha Syntex in 1999 and has been instrumental in establishing it as India’s first and largest organic cotton textile vertical. Last year Shreyaskar initiated The ‘Swaraj‘ model of self-reliance and self-sustenance at grass-roots level in Maheshwar in Madhya Pradesh, with 4000 farmers and a sewing skill centre, and a farmer managed and supported school. The vision is to create self-reliant holistic rural communities in Madhya Pradesh and prevent urban migration.
Under Shreyaskar’s leadership Pratibha Syntex invested in the latest textile technologies, including salt free fabric dyeing consuming a third of water and half the energy, organic and fair-trade compact mélange spinning, recycled cotton yarn spinning and an eco-garment facility with LED lighting and rain water harvesting.Pratibha Syntex has reduced it’s water footprint by 53% in the last 5 years and is now committed to reducing carbon footprint by 50% and switching entirely to sustainable materials.
