‘i-Spin’ spindle monitoring system now gets added to Nestling Technologies’ portfolio. As such, a variety of analysis such as the whole year performance of the ring frame, lot-wise performance, etc. is now available instantly, which can be viewed from anywhere across the globe.
Coimbatore-based Nestling Technologies India Private Limited is a name that has become synonymous with a range of world-class cotton contamination clearers. Medex Teknologies, whose textile division has emerged as a key player in the spindle monitoring product segment, has now merged with Nestling Technologies. With the merger, Nestling Technologies will offer ‘i-Spin’, a spindle monitoring system, in the market. Going into details regarding the development, S Chandrasekaran, Managing Director, Nestling Technologies, stated: “Yes, we have signed an MOU with Medex Teknologies which has got two divisions, one engaged in medical and another in textile. The textile division is going to merge with Nestling Technologies.”
Aligned with Core Philosophy
According to Chandrasekaran, the product from Medex Teknologies was in alignment with Nestling Technologies’ core philosophy. “Our philosophy is to have three value creations at the customer’s place. These are purified cotton, dignified threads and elegant fabrics. These three values are going to give the required competitive edge to our customer and in turn would help to create a healthy customer experience for their customers. This approach is also in alignment with Medex Teknologies’ core philosophy,” he added.
Innovation and Response
Chandrasekaran further informed that for the cotton vertical the company has ‘I Scan’, an already popular system in the market. It is a product designed according to the customers’ needs and expectations. Doing over 700 installations of ‘I Scan’ has been possible due to the company’s organisational philosophy. According to Chandrasekaran, apart from the domestic market, the company has also been focusing on key global markets such as Turkey, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and Bangladesh.
“We have also got some enquiries from the US market recently. The next key element in our philosophy is dignified threads. Whatever threads that we are producing now are from purified cotton and this means they will have their own quality norms. Thus, with purified cotton and dignified threads the fabric will naturally be elegant,” he said.
As regards after-sales support, he said that the product requires minimal support. He added that care has been taken during the design and development of the product to ensure that minimal technical support would be sufficient. What is different about ‘i-Spin’? Responding to this question, C Rajendran, Managing Director, Medex Teknologies, said: “The concept that we have created is beyond spindle monitoring. It is not just to monitor the spindle and take action.”
Distinct Advantages
“We need to reduce the dependability of technical, skilled persons for the customers. Now there is a very big gap for the customers because of the lack of technical people. What we have done using our hardware and software is to create a product where there is no big intervention needed for the technical wing to analyse the data. We are actually pointing out the pain points to the customers so that they can directly take the required action. There is no need to go through the data or report. A customer can just see the single screen and find out the pain point. Since we show the customer the problem areas, success automatically follows,” he added.
“We have attempted is to eliminate multiple reports and give a single report which is a comprehensive one. We have also adopted artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to process the data received from the machines. We are therefore, outstanding and unique in every aspect,” he added.
“Since Medex Teknologies has got experience in medical products, the solution is highly reliable. In the medical segment, risk analysis is done on the product without which it cannot go to the market. The same thing has been done here. It is not usual to do risk analysis in the textile industry. We have mitigated all the risks in the product,” Rajendran said. V Hariharan, General Manager, Nestling Technologies stated that even a large installation of the spindle monitoring system can be maintained by a single service engineer. “A lot of forethought and planning has gone into developing this product,” he said.
“We are unique in providing all the key parameters of the spinning department through a single screen. We call this the panoramic spin view. This kind of prognosis saves a lot of time for the technical team as well as that of the management for monitoring the performance of a department. For example, many people have gone for retrofit of automatic doffers for ring frames. If any automatic doffer is stopped beyond a particular time which is usually around four minutes assuming that each doff takes place for up to seven minutes, it will be immediately flashed to the senior management who can then focus their efforts on where they need to improve the performance,” he added.
