Mr. Ved Prakash Chiripal moved out of a small city in Haryana to Ahmedabad in the late 1960s. With a humble start of a few powerlooms in 1972, he set up Vishal Fabrics in the textile hub of India.
It is intriguing to know that Mr. Ved Prakash Chiripal kick-started his business at a young age of 21, with nothing but ambition and a dream in mind. Today, the Chiripal Group of Companies, with a turnover of Rs. 6,800 crores ($973 million), has acquired an eminent position in India as an integrated textile house focused on delivering the best products by continuous R&D, defined processes, stringent quality policies and state-of-the-art technologies.
With a number of companies under its banner, it is a diversified group with interests in spinning, denim, terry towels, BOPP films, infrastructure and education, among others. It is the third largest manufacturer of denim in terms of volume in the world and the largest in India, with an annual production of over a 100 million meters.
Of the many ventures of the group there is one enterprise that draws the attention of many – Nandan Terry Pvt. Ltd. (NTPL). It happens to be the latest venture of the group. Set up in 2016, it is faring well under the able leadership of Mr. Ronak Chiripal, an MBA from the US. With his rich educational background, coupled with the collective experience of the employees, Mr. Ronak is the right Director of Nandan Terry Pvt. Ltd. Within two years of its commencement, the company has managed to make an impact on the global market, becoming one of the most sought after terry towel suppliers.
Nandan Terry is an ultra-modern vertically integrated facility manufacturing a wide range of 100% cotton terry towels and towel ensembles using Organic, Egyptian, Supima Cotton Bamboo, Cotton Tencel and Cotton blends in a variety of weaves. It is a vertically integrated facility for spinning, weaving process & confection of terry towels. At a macro level it may seem like any other textile-based company. What could possibly set it off from the others? Upon close inspection, one would observe that it is a relatively new business in an already established textile industry, and to many that would pose as a huge disadvantage. But Mr. Ronak, being a young entrepreneur had a vision and plan in mind.
Nandan Terry, being a new business unit, has learnt a lot from the mistakes of its competitors which in return has proved to bestow upon him a wider viewing angle in the greater scheme of things. An ultramodern company has its own benefits like having an experienced team and being equipped with up-to-the-minute equipments and technology and a Director who would not miss this opportunity to make the most out of it.
Within the first year of its commencement itself Nandan Terry had an annual return of over $30 million (2017-18), a clear indication of the company’s rich potential. He said: “Nandan Terry believes in making partners and not customers.”
The company believes in the idea of ethereal or intangible milestones. It has successfully established an extremely flexible customer-friendly environment and considers that to be its greatest achievement.
About 70-90% of the production is exported across the globe. The chief clients are spread out across the length and breadth of the globe, right from the US to Japan, the UK to the Middle East.
In five years from now, Mr. Ronak aspires to make Nandan Terry a “One-stop Solution for all Home Textiles.” It is a relatively rare idea that would soon turn into reality and would change the course of business done in the Indian market. It aims at the expansion of the company into different verticals by ensuring 100% customer satisfaction.
Mr. Ronak wants to turn Nandan Terry into the flagship company of the Chiripal Group, flourishing at the global level.
Leaving no markets untouched and penetrating into the very depths of the market is success mantra of the Director – a simple yet complex strategy that will possibly shape the future of the company.
Amassing huge profits isn’t the only driving force behind the Nandan Terry growth. There is another goal of greater importance. The company believes in being sustainable by protecting the very earth we call home. It has taken firm steps in reducing the amount of consumption of paper and would soon turn into a paperless institution. It ensures no discharge of hazardous liquids into the water bodies in the vicinity.
