Launches ASTARA home textile brand
The company has invested Rs 400 crore during the period of 2018 to 2020 toward forward integration and plans to invest another Rs 360 crore in the future towards value-added products and expansion of the portfolio.
If there is one company that will be voted as the fastest growing textile companies in India in the last decade, it will be Mohan Spintex from Andhra Pradesh. And it is Sudhakar Chowdary Vallabhaneni, a young and dynamic entrepreneur, who has led Mohan Spintex to this status. In just 16 years, Mohan Spintex is already the second-largest textile company from Andhra Pradesh and there are no doubts that by the turn of this decade the company will be among the top with a large global presence. Mohan Spintex India Limited (MSIL) was established in 2005 and started commercial production in October 2006 with just 14,400 spindles in Unit 1 at Vattigudipadu.
It later expanded the units in a phased manner at various places by establishing world-class manufacturing units of spinning, weaving, processing and home textiles at Vattigudipadu, Remalle and Mallavalli industrial areas in Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh. The company has grown exponentially and become a global player with its current capacity of 121,488 spindles with 100% compact spinning, 6,272 rotors, 4,800 TFO drums, 324 air jet looms and 1 lakh metres’ capacity in its continuous processing range plant.
The company employs about 5,500 people of which 45% are women. MSIL has achieved sales turnover of above Rs 1,000 crore in FY 2021-22 with 80% of domestic sales and 20% of exports to over 22 countries worldwide, including direct retailers in USA, Canada, Europe, Australia, Bangladesh and China, among others, and with a vision to achieve turnover of Rs 2,000 crore by 2025 and Rs 5,000 crore by 2030. The company has the capacity to produce over 2,500 tonnes of quality yarn, 2,850,000 metres of grey fabric, 2,850,000 metres of processed fabric and 450,000 sheet sets per month.
It has invested in best preparatory and weaving technology, including warping and sizing machines from Karl Mayer and looms from Picanol’s latest Summum air jet range capable of running at 1,100 rpm. The company has invested Rs 400 crore during the period of 2018 to 2020 towards forward integration and plans to invest another Rs 360 crore in the future toward value-added products and expansion of the portfolio. It was allocated 8 MV of gas power sharing by investing in AP Gas Power Corporation Limited and is also planning to install 10.5 MW rooftop solar panels in the existing units with an investment of around Rs 38 crore.

Mohan Spintex’s product portfolio includes 100% cotton, blends of cotton with polyester, viscose, modal, linen and lyocell fabric. The weaves include percale, satin, twill, damask stripe, pin stripe, dobby and jacquard. In the home textile segment Mohan Spintex offers sheet sets such as flat sheet, fitted sheet, pillow case, duvet covers, pillow shams, pillow protectors, cushion covers, mattress protectors, bed skirts, bed pads, pillow shells, comforters and comforter shells. It offers end-to-end solution for BCI cotton, organic cotton, Egyptian cotton and Supima cotton products and complies with ISO-9001:2015, 14001:2015,45001:2016, GOTS, Detox, Egyptian Cotton, Wrap, Sedex and CTPAT to meet international customer requirements.
