MESDAN, the leading splicer and laboratory equipment producer from Italy, had its products displayed in two different areas. In Hall W5 – booth C2, it presented a range of yarn splicers like Jointair, Aquasplicer, Hot Jointair and MoistAir.
The QC & dyeing testing area in hall E6 was equally attractive. Mesdan’s 2013 acquisition of the majority stake in Gavazzi SrL, a renowned Italian manufacturer of laboratory equipment for dyeing and finishing, gave a great impulse to Mesdan-Lab in broadening further the applications of its textile QC laboratory equipment range.
Mesdan splicers are available in both hand-operated and automatic version. The company’s special focus is on MoistAir 6901R, launched at Shanghaitex 2013, designed for splicing fine yarns; Indigo Splicer 4662, a unique solution to knotless joining of denim rope-dyed Indio yarns; and Hot Jointair 4984B, a quality splice benchmark for worsted, cashmere and fancy yarns.
The AQUA-LAB is an innovative instrument for accurate measurement of moisture content. Measurement in a few seconds, high repeatability and reproducibility of results, perfect correlation with a regain oven (standard drying system), simple test execution, reduced consumption of electricity and low power microwave radiations released are some of its notable features.
The other testing equipment on display in the spinning hall were NATI, neps and trash indicator, a very popular tool for detecting, measuring and classifying neps in row material and slivers, AUTODYN, a fully automatic tensile strength tester, and MT evenness and hairiness tester for slivers, rovings and spun yarns, both natural and man-made, complete with the hairiness sensor.
ITMA Asia also witnessed the launch of the new Mesdan DyeLab systems. Under the slogan “from lab to bulk”, some innovative new equipment showcased for the first time, deserved special attention.
The AUTO- CHROMA infra red “click-valve” dyeing machine, with two very special features and fully automatic dosing eliminates stop-start operations and improves considerably dyeing uniformity.
The H.T. auto- dyeing machine is a miniature laboratory pilot piece dyeing machine, with attractive features. It dyes fibres, yarns, fabrics made of any dyeable fibres and their blends. All parameters are fully programmable, including auto dosing (three automatic dosing tanks expandable to five). High quality thermal insulation helps save power and enables faster temperature increase. Options available and PH tap, capacity reduction sleeves to reduce the liquor ratio, and vacuum pump, for VAT dyeing.
The whole range of Mesdan DyeLab systems is made in Italy using quality stainless steel and best electronic components.
ITMF-ICCTM approval for Mesdan’s fibre-testing instrument
The ITMF International Committee on Cotton Testing Methods (ICCTM) has given full recognition to Aqualab, a fiber-testing instrument produced by Mesdan Spa, Italy. It can measure the fibre moisture content and moisture regain through an innovative microwave low-power resonance technology that is relatively fast and easy to use.
Rapid measurement of moisture content and regain is useful at every stage in the cotton value chain to optimize yarn and fabric production and accurately determine the value.
The key criteria for recognition of an instrument include performance of the test method which implies measurement of new cotton characteristics, resolution, less uncertainty, least influence on the existing methods or direct user benefits such as reduced operating time without reducing the resolution.
At the same booth, other testing instruments for physical fabric testing were on display:
* The 9 position MARTINDALE, considered a benchmark for the Chinese Government inspection bureaus as well as international private testing houses.
* The AIRTRONIC, an air permeability tester complying with major international standards like JIS, ASTM, EN ISO, EDANA, etc.
* BURSTAMATIC, the pneumatic bursting tester. It is suitable for testing five different sizes. Fully programmable, measures sample distension and cycling fatigue.
