The company has redesigned the geometry of some of its machines, introducing higher productivity and performance
Mario Crosta is a leading manufacturer of dry finishing machinery globally. The company has through its strong quality and innovation focus also gained the trust of leading Indian players over the years. With Batliboi representing the company in India, its products have made rapid inroads into the market. In an exclusive chat, President Marco Crosta sounded happy at the company’s worldwide performance in 2021. “Against all odds, it has definitely been a good year. We have been able to achieve unexpected growth in business in spite of all the global issues related to supply chain and logistics,” he says.
Going into details regarding the markets that have been good for the company in 2021, he adds: “In 2021 the good markets have been Pakistan, Egypt, Uzbekistan, Turkey, some countries of South America and, starting from the middle of the year, India as well. We have been able to secure prestigious orders from Indian corporate companies like Menaka Textile Industries, Shahi Exports, RSWM Limited, Shivalik Fabrics, Birla Textile Mills, SCM, etc. in 2021.”
Improving Profitability
Explaining how the company’s products have helped its customers increase their efficiency, quality and profitability, Crosta notes: “As always, we are on the top of the list. The strength of our machines, high reliability, electronic updates, continuous research for improving the efficiency and reducing the consumption has given the customers a strong weapon for reaching their goals.” When asked about any new technology introduced by the company in recent times, he elaborates: “We have redesigned the geometry of some of our machines, introducing higher productivity and performance. We have written new software for making the machines easier to use. We have introduced new simplified solutions for drives and motors, reducing the time of maintenance.”
The world seems to be ending the difficult pandemic period which lasted for over two years. Going into details regarding the valuable lessons the company learnt from the pandemic, he observes: “We learnt that the most important thing is to adapt ourselves quickly to the changes because what is valid today may be not valid tomorrow and vice-versa. The lack of possibility to travel has not affected our business; we have learned how to take care of our customers even remotely. Our partner Batliboi is helping us immensely with sales and service support for the Indian market. Although we have not been able to travel to India for the last two years, Batliboi has put in its best efforts to maintain the Mario Crosta business in India. In short, the strong relationship we have nurtured for so many years has helped us sail through unprecedented and uncertain times.”
Automation and Sustainability
Automation and Industry 4.0 are no longer optional and are considered the fundamentals for an efficient manufacturing system. Throwing light on the company’s initiatives on this front, Crosta states: “It is already some years since we proposed to our customers the possibility of linking their machines to ERP systems to have remote control assistance, monitor the efficiency of their processes, and so on. Electronics enable such interesting solutions. The requests for these kinds of advantages are increasing by the day.” Mario Crosta machines are known for helping customers achieve their sustainability goals.
Pointing out how this happens, Crosta explains: “One of the advantages that the whole world recognises about Mario Crosta machines is low power consumption. Our electronic patented devices give the customer an advantage in terms of consumption and having a lower impact in terms of pollution with low carbon footprints. Also, the research of the new geometry of some of our machines has given good results on processing fabrics obtained with recycled raw material, improving the circularity of the economy itself. For sure, our machine is one of the most ‘green’ ones.”
Positive Outlook
Marco Crosta expects significant revival in the fortunes of the textile industry, looking at 2022 and beyond. “We are positive. We face all the daily challenges with a strong sense of positivity. We expect good revival and a good trend. The initial trends for the year 2022 have been very encouraging. Mario Crosta and most of the Italian manufacturers are passing through one of the busiest periods and have strong projections for this year,” he remarks. Sharing the company’s vision for 2025, Crosta is optimistic of the company’s continued growth. “After the pandemic and with the war in our neighbourhood it is difficult to make a forecast, but we are confident that there will be potential growth. We are sure that we will consolidate our position, registering significant growth by 2025 and maintain market leadership in the dry finishing machinery segment,” he says.
