Mandhana Industries Ltd. (MIL) is a fully integrated global player in high fashion with significant capabilities in the manufacture of textiles and garments as well as retailing. The company has its five state-of-the art manufacturing facilities in MIDC Tarapur that undertake yarn dyeing, weaving, fabric processing and garmenting in tandem with five garment units in Bangalore. Mandhana is setting up another garment unit in the Hi Tech Textile Park in Baramati.
A healthy growth
The company recorded a healthy growth by clocking a turnover of Rs. 1,517.93 crores in 2013-14 as against Rs. 1,363.06 crores the year before. The textiles segment grew during the year by 9.12 per cent to touch Rs. 1,221.95 crores, whereas the garments segment grew by 21.67 per cent, from Rs. 243.26 crores to Rs. 295.98 crores.
The company did well on the export front too which accounted for 20 per cent of its total business. Backed by the strong brand equity of its brand ambassador, film star Salman Khan, the unique CSR and people-friendly character of the brand that promotes fashion has found great acceptance in export markets.
The company’s Chairman and Managing Director, Mr. Purushottam C. Mandhana, observes: “We are investing in creating a larger retail network to take the brand to the people, and expanded our store count during the year. Today, we have 17 company-owned ‘Being Human’ stores, six franchised outlets, 99 store-in-stores, six e-commerce portals, 60 distributors that feature the brand and 100 international outlets that stock and sell this leading brand. The increasing relevance of our brand and its global acceptance is an outcome of our belief that fashion for a cause is a people-friendly proposition that will find far-reaching acceptance”.
Mandhana also has retail tie-ups with chains like Shoppers Stop, Lifestyle, Splash, Jade Blue, All that Jazz, My Store and Wardrobe, among others. The brand ‘Being Human’ has tied up with Myntra.com, India’s leading online fashion store through which it reaches 480 towns and cities that the site caters to.
MIL exports fabrics to over 25 countries worldwide. Over 75 per cent of the garments produced are exported to 25 countries. Post-expansion annual capacities are 4.3 million kg of yarn dyeing, 39 million metres per annum of weaving, 72 million metres of fabric processing, and 7.6 million pieces of garment stitching.
