Mr. Giriraj Singh, Union Minister of State, Ministry of MSME, unveiled the solar-powered mini ringframe designed by Lakshmi Machine Works Ltd. (LMW) for the benefit of the khadi industry at a special function held at Dr. D. Jayavarthanavelu Research & Development Centre in Coimbatore on July 17.
Addressing the function, the Minister had all praise for LMW for this innovative futuristic development which will rejuvenate the khadi industry, decentralise yarn production and generate mass employment. He suggested that LMW develop a new spinning machine for producing yarn out of coir fibre.
“In order to realise Gandhiji’s dream, the newly designed product should be affordable to the down-trodden and also help them earn a living”, he added.
In his address, Mr. Sanjay Jayavarthanavelu, LMW Chairman and Managing Director, said his company is always keen on fulfilling customer needs with a wider use of unconventional energy as well as reducing power consumption through energy reduction modules for regular spinning mills. This solar-powered mini ringframe would help in rehabilitating the rural community across the nation.
The ringframe was designed and developed by LMW jointly with the Ministry of MSME to benefit the khadi industry in its endeavour to promote self-employment and women empowerment even in remote villages.
With 32 spindles, the newly-designed ringframe is driven using solar energy. It comes with a host of features that ensure high productivity, quality of yarn and also provide utmost safety and user-friendliness.
The machine is capable of producing high quality yarn in counts from 10s to 60s Ne. with solar power for 9 hours a day from 8 am to 5 pm. Peak production can be obtained between 10 am and 4 pm.
The ringframe will fulfil the ever-demanding requirement of the khadi industry with a mechanised machine equipped with safety features.
