Kusumgar Corporates Pvt. Ltd. (KCPL) is a fully-integrated ISO-certified technical textile/fabric manufacturing company having more than 40 years of experience in the field. Mr. Y.K. Kusumgar established KCPL way back in 1970 after realizing the potential of technical textiles and started a business to meet the ever-changing needs of a burgeoning industry.

Beginning with synthetic filter fabrics, Kusumgar Corporates expanded its activities to cover a range of technical textiles at a time when such textiles were in an infant stage in India. Over a period of time, the company grew to include various segments in technical textiles and became a proven international leader in the process.

Since inception, the company business philosophy has been to promote product and market development of technical textiles through innovative technologies with the help of an experienced team of technocrats.

KCPL operates through three different production sites in Gujarat, with its corporate office in Mumbai. Its production facilities are equipped with advanced conventional shuttle looms, Dornier rigid rapier looms, water jet looms, and Sulzer flexible rapier looms and weaving machines to carry out specialized operations.

The company has a well-equipped processing facility for scouring, bleaching, dyeing and printing with open and closed jiggers, jet dyeing machines, calendaring machine and stenters with both pin and clip facility. Production facilities include coating with polymeric materials such as vinyl, acrylic and urethanes and also impregnation for fire retardancy, water repellency, oil repellency, microbial resistance, etc., with in-house testing facility.

Explaining the company growth strategy, Mr. Siddharth Kusumgar, Managing Director of KCPL, told The Textile Magazine: “Technical textile industry in our country is still very immature even though there’s a lot of progress in the last decade. But we see a tremendous market potential in our country provided our government promotes the industry with the right policies.”

Today the company not only supplies technical textiles but also provides technical solutions to the growing customer base. Technical expertise and versatility have been the hallmarks of Kusumgar. This has resulted in its ability to create customized fabrics that meet the specific requirements of almost any industry.

The company has extensive experience in manufacturing more than 500 types of woven fabrics from a wide range of yarns, including but not limited to spun multi-filament and mono-filament made from polyamides, polyester, polypropylene, viscose rayon, Aramid, Vectran and Cordura.

Kusumgar Corporates is the only technical textile manufacturer in the country to have bagged the “National Award for Indigenisation” from the Government of India for excellence in Indigenisation of Defence Equipment. It is also the only company to develop and produce nuclear biological chemical (NBC) warfare clothing and zero porosity fabrics for parachute applications. It has a diversified product range weighing 20 gsm to 1,000 gsm produced on a wide range of weaving machines, viz., conventional, projectile, rapier, and water jet machines.

The extensive range of fabrics offered by the company are aerospace fabrics for hi-performance parachute and balloon applications, inflatables, shell fabric and other components for bullet-proof vests other than polyaramid components, tent-age and tarpaulin, tapes (industrial, medicinal and impression), geosynthetics, tyre industry, filtration, beltings, luggage fabrics, sportswear, and functional furnishing fabrics.

Kusumgar has a huge clientele in the major markets of India and the US. Over the years it has set up a full-scale R&D laboratory and a manufacturing and weaving facility along with a processing and finishing plant, redefining the company’s role from a weaver and coater to a total textile solution provider.

“As of now, we are a very small company but would like to reach Rs. 600 crores by 2020”, says Mr. Siddharth who believes that continuous infrastructural development is the key to the success of any industry.
