Karl Mayer sharpening focus on training

KarlMayer-Trainingcenter-1

The Karl Mayer Academy can look back on a successful 2014. More than 200 specialists were trained in Germany alone. The training centre in Obertshausen offers a multi-faceted training programme where the basic course is most frequently in demand as before. According to instructor Robert Kuna, what was most striking during the year was the demand from South America. Here an upturn seems to be in the offing.

In Miguel Andres the Karl Mayer Academy has an experienced Spanish-speaking specialist in its course tutor team for those taking part from the southern part of the American continent. The hit list of the nations enumerated among the participants is headed by Turkey and India. In some countries such as the US and Mexico customers make use of the local Karl Mayer Academy facilities. During the year the instructors were able to train over 80 knitting operatives on tour.

In January 2015 Robert Kuna will take his course to Vietnam. In addition the instructor is also looking forward to the new HKS 4 EL newly planned for next year. This is initially being lent to Karl Mayer Academy China for one course series. The firm’s own training centre in Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province, will end the course year 2014 successfully – and also two new offers. The first training on the electronic patterning mechanism is being given between December 2014 and February 2015. The HKS 4 EL will be used here.

This course will give Karl Mayer customers the opportunity to acquaint themselves very closely with the performance features and ways of operating the electronic guide bar control system. The course is aimed at designers, product developers and production planners who already have machines with EL control systems and whom the acquired know-how will enable to recognize and utilize the potential of their production equipment better. However, the course is also aimed at newcomers to the sector. Nonetheless, whether newcomers or old hands – a four-day programme with interesting contents awaits all those taking part. The main emphasis will be on:

* The electronic control system in practice, on the HKS 4 EL

* The KAMCOS system

* The ProCadwarpknit software for creating a wide range of designs

* The design facilities of the EL control system through the use of different patterns

At the end of the course the trainees will be able to create their own patterns.

The second course celebrated its premiere in November and dealt with clip strings for lace machines. The course is accompanied by the appearance on the market of Karl Mayer’s flexible yarn guide. It gives details of the system’s advantages in the day-to-day production of the lace manufacturer and offers trainees the opportunity to practise loading the strings with yarn guides using the clip process on the setting  bench specifically developed for this. The course lasts two to three days.

Features of the course include an explanation of the setting diagram and creation of examples; mode of operation of the setting bench and placing of the yarn guides in accordance with the setting diagram; and an offer to the trainees to practise changing the string bars on a lace machine.
