MONTI-MAC s.r.l., established in 1931 on the outskirts of Como, Italy, started manufacturing easy and manual sewing machines for the domestic market. From its humble inception, MONTI-MAC is today known worldwide for automation in sewing, cutting and confection processes for fabrics and technical articles in general.

The company soon captured a sizable market share within Italy in the sewing vertical, but the real expansion took place after participating in its first ITMA in 1981 held at Milan, which opened the doors for the company to the global market. The company quickly identified newer areas of development within this niche segment and started producing machines to aide in the grey fabric preparatory lines. This segment soon became its major area of focus generating more than 50 per cent of the annual turnover.

Its technology is so versatile and can be applied in a varied traditional fields (grey fabric preparation to finishing process) and confection of household linen (terry towels, bed sheets, blankets and carpets) and in new technologies addressed to technical textile products with special processes on nets, geo-textile, non-woven fabrics, Kevlar, and so on.

The automatic sewing technology is expected to revolutionize this segment as companies are already showing positive signs of opting for automation due to the exponential increase in the labour cost in recent times.

Also the quality and efficiency with which the stitch gets embedded on the fabric is unmatched when compared to past manual practices.

All operations are based on automation, flexibility and quality, and with on-time post-sales and service all over the world, supporting over 3,000 regular company customers.

The company has high hopes on India, the third largest market that has contributed close to 20-25 per cent of its annual turnover in recent years.

In an exclusive interview for The Textile Magazine, Mr. Fabio Monti, said: “MONTI-MAC is committed to provide the best service for the Indian customers and so has set up a warehouse facility in Mumbai where critical parts are stocked and a trained technicians who could provide hassle free solution for its customers across the nation.”
