Riding the wave of growth in 2024
Elangovan reflected on the positive trajectory of the textile and apparel sector in 2024, particularly during the second half of the year. “The latter part of 2024 has been exceptional,” he remarked. “A combination of geopolitical developments and shifting buyer perceptions has positioned India as a strong contender in the global market.”
The Tiruppur cluster, widely regarded as a hub of textile excellence, has witnessed a surge in demand. “We were overwhelmed with orders in the last two quarters,” Elangovan noted. “It’s a testament to the resilience and capacity of our cluster.”
Leveraging the China-Plus-One strategy
The global shift towards the China-Plus-One strategy has opened new doors for Indian manufacturers, particularly in the cotton fiber segment. “The strategy has worked in our favor, especially for cotton products. However, in the man-made fiber (MMF) sector, we’re still in the early stages. Investments have started flowing, and with time, we’ll catch up,” he explained.
Political instability in neighboring Bangladesh has further underscored the importance of diversifying sourcing destinations. “India is emerging as a stable and reliable supply chain hub .As geopolitical tensions ease globally, we look forward to sustained peace and growth,” he observed.
Achievements and milestones
SNQS Internationals has made remarkable strides in 2024, achieving a 15% growth rate and expanding its sourcing footprint to include Egypt and Bangladesh. “A major highlight for us was the opening of our design studio in Barcelona,” Elangovan shared before adding, “Reaching the USD 250 million milestone was another proud moment.”

As a key advocate for sustainable practices, Elangovan highlighted TEA’s efforts to position the cluster as an Environmentally, Socially, Governed (ESG) hub. “Our cluster operates with 100% Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) and generates around 2000 MW of green energy. “These initiatives showcase Tiruppur as a model for sustainability and innovation,” he said.
The MMF segment in Tiruppur is also gaining momentum. “Investments in technology and machinery are paving the way for growth in this sector,” Elangovan remarked. “As demand rises, we anticipate a significant uptick in production and capacity,” he added.
