ARO, a brand of Ingersoll Rand, and a leading producer of air operated diaphragm pumps, has launched a new range of pumps with electronic interface options to cater to dosing applications in the industry.
The electronic interface diaphragm pumps are suitable for solutions requiring a high level of controllability where repeatability (±5%) and flow validation is essential. These are particularly useful in textile dyeing units as well as in effluent treatment plants for accurate dosing of chemicals as customers look to increase the safety and efficiency of their systems and processes.
The ARO electronic interface pumps offer the following options:
Solenoid actuation: The pumps are fitted with a solenoid coil which, when energized, actuates the pump air valve allowing the pump to cycle. When the electrical signal is removed the air valve resets itself, thus completing the cycle. By providing continuous on/off signals, the pump cycle rate can be increased or decreased remotely.
Electrical signal from the PLC, pressure switch or a simple line switch can be used to operate the pump. Varying supply voltages are offered – 120V AC, 240V AC, 12V DC, 24V DC. For instrinsically safe environments, ATEX coils can also be provided.
End of stroke feedback: This system provides a closed contact output for monitoring pump operation. An in-built pressure switch detects change in air pressure on each stroke within the pilot valve and sends out a digital signal – 9.6 – 32V DC. This indicates the end of the pump stroke. Thus, when integrated with the solenoid control, end of stroke feedback provides a signal the instant the pump has completed the stroke, so that the timing of the strokes can be adjusted to ensure that the pump completes each stroke.
Cycle sensing: This system provides real time monitoring of the pump operation. A magnet is embedded in the spool to provide a signal which senses/counts cycles.
Put together, the system provides complete integration with the plant control systems and also provides the cycle rate data for scheduling preventive maintenance.
All ARO diaphragm pumps are equipped with an unbalanced air valve design and dump valves that provide ice-free performance. Both these features combine to provide exceptional reliability which is essential for a typical on-demand application.
These pumps cover the complete ARO size range from ¼” to 3” models and are available in polypropylene, PVDF, stainless steel and aluminum. ATEX options are available across all sizes.
The ARO diaphragm pumps are used extensively in the textile industry for transfer of colors in color kitchens, fabric treatment chemicals (caustic, hydrogen peroxide, etc.), color transfer in rotary printing machines as well as for sludge transfer in effluent treatment plants.
ARO provides fluid handling equipment for customers and industries worldwide. Offering air-operated diaphragm pumps, piston pumps and packages, filters, regulators and lubricators (FRLs), lubrication equipment, and pneumatic valves and cylinders, ARO has the right product to meet your specific needs.
