India has been and will continue to be an important player in the global textile industry.

Emphasising this point, Dr. Geoffrey Scott, Chief Executive Officer, Uster Technologies, has said that, being the second largest producer of cotton in the world, the past few years have witnessed a shift in focus to higher output of quality cotton traded at the international level. Unlike China and the US, India does not have a government-backed classifying system that provides the HVI data valued by traders and spinners. A positive move in this direction in the next few years would add to the attractiveness of the Indian cotton.

He has further observed that India will continue to remain as a competitive and dominant player in the global yarn market too. Indian spinners have earned a reputation as regular suppliers of high quality product with exotic blends and counts from one source, and also to produce short runs with good deliveries.

Uster has a strong relationship with the Indian textile industry, with its joint focus on ensuring consistent quality at the required levels. “Our customers push us to stay in front with technological developments and new applications which benefit both Uster and the Indian textile industry, ensuring both a promising future,” he has added.
