Every successful business is, in a way, a small miracle. Family companies that are successfully passed down from one generation to another continue to thrive and attain greater achievements.
Ideal Group is a perfect example of this. Founded by the late Shri Ramanlal M. Shah in 1956, Ideal is being successfully run by his granddaughter, Mrs. Khushi Palkhiwala, its present Chairman and Executive Director. As she fondly talks about the founder and how his foresight, determination and hard work have made Ideal one of the leading names in the textile industry, she said how proud she is to be the next torch-bearer to carry his dreams and passion ahead and take Ideal to the next level.
Since inception, Ideal has always supported the textile industry with import substitutive products and chosen to be a pioneer and leader of all the products it has manufactured. It has always been Ideal’s motto to manufacture all its products with the best technical know-how from the best-in-the-class producers of the world or developing products in-house with a committed team of technocrats.
Ideal introduced Universal ball bearing bobbin holders with the internal brake system in India with the technical know-how from Whitehead Company of the US. These were specially designed for auto doffing system where bobbin holders with external brake system cannot be used.
Ideal was also the first company in India to introduce world-class ring temple cylinders in collaboration with G. Hunziker AG of Switzerland, which made it possible to produce defect-free fabric on automatic weaving machines of all reputed makes. It also supported ring spindle manufacturers by supplying spring buttons with the know-how from the world leader Novibra of Germany.
This gave Ideal an edge over the other manufacturers, and it ruled the market as far as its products were concerned. Whereas textiles has always been the core business of Ideal Group, it had also successfully ventured into the defence and automobile sector for short durations.
Mrs. Khushi Palkhiwala joined the group as a Director in 1996. She added yet another feather in Ideal’s cap by starting production of yarn carriers. Almost for 40 years Ideal has been working very closely with renowned OEMs and textile mill technicians and has always catered to the textile industry’s ever mounting and changing needs in the backdrop of higher and higher spindle speeds.
Under her leadership, and with unconditional support from OEMs, Ideal has developed ‘Sure Lock Tubes’ (patent applied) for spindles fitted with the centrifugal ball clutch for gripping the tubes. It has given perfect solution to arrest the bobbin jumping and avoid spindle damages.
Ideal’s latest innovation, the HCC Tubes, which it introduced in November 2017, is a major breakthrough in the field of yarn carriers. The tube wall thickness is reduced from 3mm to 1.8mm without compromising on strength and dimensional stability and reduced press-load. It has primarily two benefits, less weight and high cop content, which helped to increase the operational efficiency at ring frame and winding machine.
Weight of tube reduced by about 35%
* For 1,824 spindle machine, rotating weight is reduced by 32 kg resulting in power saving up to 3% (up to Rs. 1 lakh per annum per machine)
Higher cop content- increased up to 20%,
* Increase in ring frame production up to 3% (less number of doffs)
* 20% less load on winding preparation station.
* Increase in winding efficiency by 3-4%
* Reduced number of splicing at winding
* Reduced power and air consumption at winding machine.
Ideal also provides special profile tubes for effective top bunching while winding spandex (elastic) yarn.
Having achieved a technological edge in yarn carriers, Ideal has also diversified into manufacturing of cheeses, cones and dye cheeses for most of the applications.
Mrs. Khushi Palkhiwala’s leadership, hard work and passion have helped Ideal Group to scale new heights. Today Ideal is one of the top two largest manufacturers of yarn carriers in India and is proud to be associated with most of the leading spinning mills in India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Africa and Europe.
Ideal’s commitment to provide the best quality products and client service are the pillars on which it has made its strong foundation and continues to grow higher and higher.
Mrs. Palkhiwala reiterated Mr. Shah’s principle that being a learner for life and striving for nothing, but the best is the golden key to success. Looking where Ideal has reached today, it is very evident that Mr. Shah’s words of wisdom have been put into practice by her. She aims and looks forward to taking Ideal even further and working towards being the market leader for all its products.
