GTTES 2015 attracts 282 Indian and overseas participants

A new catalyst for textile engineering industry

Global Textile Technology & Engineering Show (GTTES-2015), held in Mumbai during January 20-22 by India ITME Society proved a landmark event for the textile engineering industry in India and overseas. The event which focused on post-spinning sectors attracted exhibitors from 12 countries and visitors from 21 countries with visitor flow continuing late into evening of the third day even after the show closure.

The event was opened by Mr. Narendra L. Shah, Mr. G.T. Dembla, and Mr. Bachkaniwala, all past Chairmen of the Society.

Many first-time products were displayed and new technologies launched at GTTES-2015.

A.T.E. Enterprises Private Ltd. showcased its latest electronic terry rapier weaving machine model GA738-I equipped with electronic dobby. This machine has excellent features for production of terry fabric with high quality and provides excellent “value for money”.

With 282 Indian and foreign exhibitors, GTTES covered an area of 11,500 sq. metres, earning the distinction of being the largest textile technology event in India after the India ITME Expo series.

The show was also visited by a high-level government delegation and a special team from Sri Lanka, Ethiopia and Korea. Ambassadors and Consul Generals from 17 countries visited the exhibition, thus confirming the importance of the Indian textile sector and the keen interest GTTES generated internationally.

Mr. Sunil Porwal, Additional Chief Secretary (Textile), Government of Maharashtra, visited GTTES and interacted with the exhibitors. He said: “I am happy to see that GTTES 2015 visitors representing all segments of the manufacturing chain from India, China and many other countries have converged here creating new opportunities for the State and the country”.

Mr. Vishvajit Sahay, Joint Secretary, Department of Heavy Industry, visited the show and took keen interest in both the Indian and overseas exhibits on display.

With a focus on the “Opportunities in Ethiopia”, an interactive session was held on the second day of the event with Mr. Sileshi Lemma, Director-General, Textile Industry Development Institute of Ethiopia. This generated business for exhibitors from African countries who placed orders for multiple machinery.

Mr. Ramdas Kadam, Cabinet Minister for Environment, appreciated the technology behind each machinery displayed. He also assured full Government backing for the textile sector.

Mr. Vallabh Thumar, Chairman & Managing Director of Alidhra Weavetech Group, observed: “The objective of this special series event is not only to showcase technology and machinery, but also to address the needs of quality, variety, allied services and access to both regional markets and clientele, especially for small & medium enterprises.”

Mr. G.V. Aras, Director, Textile Engineering Group, said: “GTTES 2015 was a wise move by the organizers for focusing more on weaving & processing machines which automatically targets and boosts the small and medium-scale textile manufacturers in India. A.T.E. has gained several unexpected business proposals from Tier-II & Tier-III cities manufacturers, and we are happy to be here at the right time and at the right place.”

Mr. Fritz Legler, Vice President – Marketing / Sales & Services, Staubli, said: “Though the economic slowdown has affected India’s textile industry, we are surprised to see very encouraging footfalls at GTTES and the participation of Chinese exhibitors”.

Ms. Seema Srivastava, Executive Director, India ITME Society, observed that the response for GTTES was beyond all expectations, with the participation of 282 exhibitors from 21 countries, 19,000 visitors, 23 media partners, five educational institutions and 15 supporting organizations. The Heavy Industry Department and the Textile Department of the Maharashtra Government offered full support for the event to make it a big success.

GTTES-2015 proved how noble were the efforts of the Society to support the textile engineering industry through high quality exhibition showcasing a new range of technology and developing new markets for exhibitors.
