Grundfos Pumps India Pvt. Ltd. (Grundfos India) recently organised an industrial event in Chennai to showcase its range of pump solutions for various industries. The event saw participation of over 250 industrial delegates from across India.
“Grundfos India is in a unique position to help improve energy efficiency of pumping solutions in industries in the country. We believe that our ability to pioneer and deliver superior energy efficient and environmentally friendly solutions to solve problems not only helps industries save money but also helps reduce their carbon and water footprint”.
– Mr. Ranganath N.K., Managing Director, Grundfos India
Experts from Grundfos believe that for 80 per cent of all pump installations, intelligent pump systems mean large savings and a cut in energy consumption by as much as half. The key to maximum efficiency is widely recognised as optimising the whole pump system, and not merely the pumps.
At the event, Grundfos India also showcased ‘Grundfos iSOLUTIONS’, a holistic system approach with intelligent technology solutions that can be customized to system demands, creating optimal performance and the lowest possible energy consumption.
Grundfos iSOLUTIONS combines the full spectrum of the Grundfos offering, including standard and integrated pumps with controls, sensors, variable frequency drives, connectivity and software to create the ultimate intelligent solution. The company takes full responsibility, from design, development and production to installation and maintenance throughout the service period of the pump system. This means that Grundfos iSOLUTIONS guarantees an intelligent solution tailored perfectly to the pump task at hand, leading to less downtime and lower failure rates.
Commenting on the occasion, Niels Fielsøe Petersen, Regional Business Director, Grundfos Holding A/S, said: “Grundfos continuously invests in new technologies that help us retain the leading edge in servicing customer requirements efficiently. The company’s industrial solutions stand for quality, efficiency, wide range, competence and support the world over. In India we are focused on industries such as chemical & process, core, energy and transportation”.
Grundfos India is working towards helping Indian industries and corporates save both energy and water through its highly energy efficient pump solutions. Commenting on the company’s sustainability focus, Mr. Ranganath N.K., Managing Director, Grundfos India, said: “Grundfos India is in a unique position to help improve energy efficiency of pumping solutions in industries in the country. We believe that our ability to pioneer and deliver superior energy efficient and environmentally friendly solutions to solve problems not only helps industries save money but also helps reduce their carbon and water footprint”.
The Grundfos R&D team collaborates with industry experts to identify, design, develop and test pumps that would cater to varied industrial demands. The textile industry is one of the largest and oldest sector forming nearly 14 per cent of total industrial output and is fast growing. This is directly related to the growing population and demands from local and global brands. However, the textile manufacturing process is highly water intensive, using about 425,000,000 gallons of water every day.
Grundfos provides end-to-end pump solutions that is built on more than 60 years of experience and designed with specific attention to ensure seamless operation in the most critical processes. Across the world Grundfos pumps are at work in industrial applications providing lower life-cycle costs, high reliability, efficiency, energy-saving, user- and eco-friendly.
Mr. Thomas J. Nellissery, Director Sales – Industry, Grundfos Pumps India Pvt. Ltd., says: “We are able to deliver the right value proposition for our customers, thanks to our extensive product range and a well trained sales team. Our sales team has been trained to understand our customer’s requirement and provide the most suitable solution so that it results in optimal performance and reduces wastage of energy. We are better attuned to meet the needs of the customer”.
For example a small RO plant which operated on a 5 hp pump can now work on a 2 hp Grundfos pump. The savings for the customer in terms of operational and energy costs will be very significant.
Grundfos offers end-to-end pump solutions for the textile industry, from spinning to weaving, dyeing and processing. The company has a complete range of pumps to suit every single process in the textile value chain.
As the textile industry develops, there is a growing concern over the common problem of water scarcity. There is increasing demand for fresh water, but improper disposal of wastewater or poor wastewater management threatens the existing water resources. To address this hazardous situation, the Government and the State Pollution Board have implemented stringent rules and regulations related to wastewater management.
Efforts would go into setting up expensive common effluent treatment plants (CETPs) and other measures to ensure that your business functionality is not affected by the need to be environmentally sensitive. Grundfos pumps, mixers, flow makers and diffusers are eco-sensitive and reliable, helping customers save water.
Pumps for water in-take, humidification plants, dyeing units, ETP plants and RO plants are some of the key applications for which Grundfos offers solutions.
According to Mr. Shankar Rajaram, Head – SBU/Auto/Textile and Sugar, “in the last 15 years that we have been in India, we have introduced pumps which have set benchmarks in the respective segments”.
Grundfos is doing a lot of work on energy optimization for spinning mills and humidification plants. The conventional humidification plants have been studied and their use optimized by providing an appropriate selection based on the needs of the site.
Grundfos also offers an important feature called Smart Trim. On traditional pumps, resetting the impeller clearance can be a complicated and costly task, as the pump has to be disconnected, removed, and dismantled. By contrast, Smart Trim allows the resetting to be carried out on site by simply adjusting three screws to restore the impeller to factory settings. This allows the pump to maintain peak efficiency, and no special tools are required.
Grundfos also offers special pumps for digital dozing applications in the dyeing industry where chemicals are found very expensive, but precise dozing of liquids and chemicals can help reduce wastage. Grundfos also offers digital dozing solutions with an accuracy level of as low as 1.5 ml per sec, adds Mr. Rajaram.
