Fiscal year 2023-24 marked a significant milestone for Surat-based Golden JD Group, an all-India agent for Haijia, a renowned Chinese manufacturer of Airjet and Waterjet weaving machines. The company experienced remarkable growth, doubling its sales from the previous year and setting ambitious targets for the future. In an insightful interview, Mr. Ritik Kedia, Director at Golden JD Group, shared the journey of the company’s exponential growth and its plans for the future.
Fiscal 2022-23 saw Golden JD Group selling nearly 900 weaving machines. This impressive figure doubled in 2023-24, with the company achieving sales of 1,800 machines. “We sold almost 900 weaving machines in fiscal 2022-23, which doubled to 1,800 in fiscal 2023-24, reflecting a 100 percent year-over-year growth. In the current fiscal, we are again targeting to double our sales to 3,600 machines,” said Mr. Kedia.
A Strong Foundation and Superior Products
Golden JD Group began its journey in 2014, becoming the pan-Indian agent for Haijia. Haijia offers a variety of Waterjet and Airjet looms, including the base model 3873, which caters to weavers producing low GSM fabrics for sarees and garments at speeds of 750 RPM. The company also manufactures Waterjet weaving machines for technical textile fabrics made from manmade fibers, such as parachute fabrics, airbags, and filter fabrics.
“Haijia offers very robust Waterjet machines. Since they run on water 24×7, it is natural for the body of the loom to rust. To prevent that, Haijia uses the best-in-class painting technology, which increases the life of the machines. The whole body of the loom and spare parts are produced by Haijia itself, ensuring full control over the metallurgy and quality of its looms,” Mr. Kedia explained.
Competitive Edge and Market Share
According to Mr. Kedia, Haijia’s looms are superior in quality compared to other Chinese competitors and are nearly on par with European weaving machine manufacturers, though they are available at three-quarters the cost of European looms. Despite being priced 50 percent higher than its Chinese counterparts, Haijia’s Waterjet looms have captured a significant market share.
“We have a strong market presence in Surat and across India due to the robustness of Haijia weaving machines. Haijia Waterjet looms hold an all-India market share of 40 percent,” he added.
Unmatched After-Sales Service
Golden JD Group prides itself on its exceptional after-sales service. The company has a dedicated team of around 55 technicians based in Surat and Panipat. Although Haijia offers a one-year warranty, Golden JD Group provides a lifetime warranty to its customers. While they may charge for spare parts, they do not charge for technician visits to resolve issues.
“Our highly qualified technicians can diagnose issues with the weaving machines simply by placing a hand on the running loom. Our core objective is not just selling looms but offering the very best after-sales service. Additionally, we maintain a huge stock of spare parts,” Mr. Kedia emphasized.
Apart from Surat, Golden JD Group has expanded its footprint by selling weaving machines in various textile hubs across India, including Kolkata, Himachal Pradesh, Panipat, and Burhanpur.
