Gokaldas Exports (GEX) has announced a strategic tie-up with BRFL Textiles Private Limited (BTPL), one of India’s largest single-location fabric processing companies. GEX will invest in BTPL by subscribing to Optionally Convertible Debentures (OCD). In the first tranche, GEX will invest ₹50 crores, with the remaining OCDs worth up to ₹300 crores to be subscribed in multiple tranches, depending on funding requirements. These funds will primarily meet working capital needs, with a smaller portion towards capex requirements. A possible merger or acquisition will be explored by 30th June 2025, subject to certain conditions and necessary approvals.
BRFL Textile Private Limited (BTPL) is a leading fashion-oriented fabric manufacturer with a strong brand presence in India and internationally. It operates one of the largest single-location fabric processing plants in Tarapur, Maharashtra, with a capacity of 4 lakh meters per day. BTPL processes multiple fibers, including cotton, viscose, linen, polyester, wool, nylon, modal, silk, and Tencel. Its automated sampling setup and skilled design team ensure consistent quality and innovative designs with quick turnaround times. BTPL enjoys strong brand equity in the Indian textile market, driven by its printing quality, designing capabilities, and constant product innovation.
In the current business environment, customers demand speed, flexibility, and agility, preferring suppliers with an end-to-end integrated business model. The strategic investment in BTPL will enable GEX to become largely self-reliant in fulfilling raw material requirements for manufacturing. BTPL’s excellent infrastructure, world-class machinery, and specialization in linen manufacturing align perfectly with GEX’s needs. BTPL is renowned in the fabric processing segment for its specialized prints and yarn-dyed fabrics, supporting the production of knits, wovens, and all fiber types. This investment in BTPL is expected to accelerate GEX’s growth by leveraging BTPL’s unique capabilities. Investing in a fabric processing mill is a significant strategic step for the company.
