New fabrication centre set up in Pune
Forbo is a leading producer of flooring systems, building and construction adhesives, as well as power transmission and conveyor belt solutions. For decades Forbo Siegling has been accompanying the numerous developments in the manufacture of yarn and fabrics, together with textile machine manufacturers.
Some of the important solutions offered by Forbo to the textile industry include power transmission belts with thermoplastic tension members made of polyester and aramide as a drive element in yarn processing, cross-lapper belts with specially developed coatings and printing blankets for accurate printing results.
Forbo started its Indian operations in 2009 as a branch office. In 2012, it established an Indian entity, Forbo Siegling Movement Systems India Pvt. Ltd., and a state-of-the-art fabrication center in Pune.
Mr. Oliver Schutte, President Asia Pacific, Forbo, says: “The textile industry is a very important vertical for Forbo. Nearly 25% of sales from emerging market come from the Textile Industry, which is particularly important in countries like China, India, Indonesia and other markets. We have a very long history of our association with the textile industry and are known as a premium belting solutions provider”.
The fabrication center in Pune is an important first step towards building Forbo’s business in India. The company receives the base material in roll form which is fabricated as per the requirement of its customers.
“It is extremely important to have our fabrication center in India as this ensures instant association with customers with easy availability of our quality products, quick service and shorter lead time”, says Mr. Ashish Ranjan, Managing Director, Forbo Siegling Movement Systems India Pvt. Ltd.
Forbo works at the global level with many major machinery manufacturers like Rieter, Oerlikon Group and Jingwei and with companies like LMW, Stork, Indian Textile Engineers, Screenotex and many others.
Forbo offers products that meet the high demands of the textile industry in manufacturing of Yarn, Textile printing & Nonwoven.
Yarn manufacturing
The conversion of fibre into yarn – the spinning process – is the most important link in the textile production chain. To meet the growing demand and qualitative requirements for the yarn – and to remain an active player in the ever-increasing competition on the global textile markets – continuous improvements are vital.
As a leading manufacturer of power transmission and conveyor belting, Forbo Siegling has for decades kept pace with the diverse developments in yarn and textile production in close co-operation with the customers. This has provided the foundation for our successful alliance with textile machinery manufacturers and producers in the short and long staple sectors, as well as in the man-made fibre industry throughout the world.
In yarn manufacture, Forbo offers power transmission belts, spindle tapes, tangential belts, conveyor and processing belts.
Nonwoven & clothing industry
Forbo Siegling’s product range includes numerous fabric types and coating materials. Combinations of these make is possible to “customize” the mechanical, chemical and electrostatic properties of each belt type. Various top face patterns and types of splices increasingly specialize the belts for each individual conveying task.
Siegling Transilon can be spliced quickly and simply, is maintenance-free, easy to track and has long service life. Many types are highly suited for various applications including strong belts for bale openers and blenders, extremely light-weight and smooth belts for high-speed cross-lappers, cut-resistant belts for strip-cutting machines and belts with special top face constructions for gentle conveying in laundry folders. In the non-woven industry Forbo commands a 30% marketshare worldwide.
Textile printing blankets
High quality printing blankets are required in rotogravure and flat bed printing in order to achieve perfect printing results on any quality of material. Siegling printing blankets fulfill the following requirements in textile printing, namely, minimal manufacturing tolerances regarding belt thickness and pitch line, and even propulsion due to accurate belt thickness and pitch line.
Minimum downtimes are ensured through simple and easy welding of belt ends on the machine, short lead time, and extremely durable and reliable splicing method.
Precise printing results are obtained with permanent longitudinal stability after short lead time, as well as consistent, precise printing.
In textile printing blankets Forbo commands a significant market share worldwide. In India too, it has established its strong presence in textile printing blankets. “We have been the No.1 player in flat bed textile printing blankets this year and have been very successful in a very short span of time”, says Mr. Ashish Ranjan. Forbo supplies to major machinery manufacturers like Stork, Indian Textile Engineers and Screenotex.
Forbo is also setting up an extensive aftermarket distribution network across India. The company has strengthened its presence in markets like Ahmedabad, Surat, Ludhiana and Panipat with service points in Delhi and Chennai and sales engineers in all major markets in the country.
