niche markets like South America
which are fast growing markets for
fancy yarn. Currently 12 per cent
of the company’s business comes
from exports. SKAAT has sold over
120 machines worldwide and over
380 machines in the domestic
market. The company has estab-
lished a very strong sales and serv-
ice network.
He says: “Our machines are
more of concept selling. The first
target is the garment manufactur-
ers and design houses. We work
closely with them to identify trends
emerging in fabrics. Once we sell
the concept then we start work-
ing backwards from the garment
manufacturer to the yarn manufac-
turer”.
With increasing competition and
pressure on the margins, SKAAT’s
products help textile mills manu-
facture a range of fancy yarns
that would help spinning units not
just to differentiate, but also earn
a premium for their yarns. Fancy
yarns are increasingly in demand
for use in fabrics such as denim,
shirting, knit and home textiles.
“SKAAT provides a user-friendly
interface and components of a very
high standard, ensuring trouble-
free working. Online assistance
and strong service support further
adds value to the product”, says
Mr. Laxmikant Rathi, Vice President
- Textile Engineering (Spinning Ac-
cessories and Exports), A.T.E. En-
terprises, the agent for SKAAT ma-
chines in India.
