ITMF
recognition for two cotton
testing instruments
textile testing
At its plenary
meeting on March
20, in Bremen,
Germany, the
International
Committee on
Cotton Testing
Methods (ICCTM),
a committee of the
International Textile
Manufacturers
Federation (ITMF),
granted full
recognition to two
latest instruments.
The first instrument that
received full recognition
was the Fibrotest from
Textechno Herbert Stein
GmbH of Germany. This
is a testing device for de-
termination of the length
distribution and
the fiber bundle
strength / elongation
of short-staple fibers,
especially cotton, in
a direct measurement
as well as in HVICCS
calibrated mode.
The second instru-
ment that received rec-
ognition was the Premier
aQura 2 from Premier
Evolvics Pvt. Ltd. in In-
dia. This is an instrument
used for testing the length and nep properties of
cotton fibre materials
at various processing
stages, which include
raw cotton and sliv-
ers.
Full recognition of
a testing instrument
means that the instru-
ment manufacturer
has provided suffi-
cient information and
results from instru-
ment comparison of
multiple testing units in
order to assess whether
the instrument can be
usefully applied in textile
mills or for research
purposes.
ICCTM is a non-profit
technical committee that
critically examines and
discusses the existing and
new cotton testing meth-
ods and instrumentation.
